Last night there was a really mad patient, but I cheered him up. He told me I had the best bedside manner of anyone he'd seen all day, including all the doctors. That made me happy. i think that being the most hated person in the hospital for as long as I have been will teach you that. Anyway, it made me happy to hear, so thought I'd document it so I can come back and read it another day when I'm mad.
Oh, there is this female doctor that EVERYONE told me is an idiot. Anyway, she orders blood cultures on everyone apparently, cause she doesn't know how to diagnose apparently. I have never had as many nurses, lab techs, even a freaking RT when they saw me doing blood cultures told me that this woman is incompetent. Damn, it makes me cringe to think that someday that might be me...except hopefully people won't look at me and wonder who made the mistake of ever letting me near a medical school. The reason i started this is to also document something else though. Due to this wonderful doctor, I set the record for most blood cultures done by one phlebotomist on one shift EVER. 5 freaking blood cultures! 5 SUPREMELY pissed off patients (wouldn't you be pissed if someone woke you up, turned on all your lights, and cheerfully told you they'd be sticking BOTH your arms??) And i was still out by 11, by the grace of God.
