Some singaporean magazine called U-weekly has a recent mini write up on our boys, and they stated that the WEAKNESS of dbsk, according to a local reporter who was present at the KL concert 2006, claimed that he/she SUSPECTED that our boys lip synced almost the entire concert.
Feel insulted?
I am, and so i wrote an ass-long email to the suckers.
Hi.
I am writing in regard to your latest U-Weekly issue #132.
On page 29, in the Topic of the Week Section, I am utterly disappointed in the news reported regarding the Korean idol group,
東方神起.
Regarding
東方神起, when U-Weekly stated their weakness, I was torn between laughing out loud for the ignorance and hitting the roof for the inaccuracy of account.
That is because, not to mention the so-called weakness stated was dated back to two years ago (in which people DO improve over time, moreover two years), the paragraph claimed that the KL concert two years ago was SUSPECTED to be lip synced throughout.
Quite a truck of us were in that very concert, and we knew, and we can see and hear perfectly, that besides some fast tracks, the ballads, which made up almost 80% of the concert, were sang live. And it is also known that
東方神起 don't lip sync to ballads.
So, the article stated that the very reporter who went for the concert suspected, in which we have clips online (U-weekly may want to visit Youtube before trying to insist the stated suspicion) to prove that almost the entire concert was live.
This is truly an insult. A mere suspicion without further concrete evidence could be labeled as a weakness? Perhaps because U-Weekly, after squeezing all its brain juice, could not find a single fault with them, which was why a suspicion could be taken as a weakness? It misleads.
IF, the weakness stated was the official fanclub of
東方神起, Cassiopeia, the local
東方神起 fans could fully understand and agree. But Singaporean fans could not take it lying down when our boys were insulted. For your information, I was pretty surprise that the war-drama happened during one of Korean's biggest summer concert a week ago, the Dream Concert, could not even capture the local media's attention into putting it down into articles. Instead, all we get are always the latest kdrama and actors in korea, which, I'm pretty sure, most of us can't even put a finger into their faces in search of a name.
It is disappointing enough that Singapore media still see Kdrama as the only source of entertainment and trend affecting the world, or rather, Asia's trend. Just when the whole of Asia is head over heels with KPop, Singapore remains ignorant to the increasing popularity of Korean singers, especially
東方神起. I, together with an island of the Singaporean
東方神起 fans around me feel ashamed for fellow Singaporeans "kwave-fans" when majority of them still think naively that Rain rules in his country and that kdrama is the only hottest thing in Korea. Sorry if this sounds offending, because the public mass received information or perceived information largely from local media sources.
I am sorry for such an agitated post, perhaps part of the reason came from the fact that now Singapore media has been seen as ignorant by most of the international
東方神起 fans, because every single report on
東方神起, be it by any country, would be shared online.
Another small information since I do not see a single local report on that,
東方神起 official fanclub, Cassiopeia, has been listed in the Guinness World Record 2008 as the biggest fanclub in the world, and has overthrown the previous record holder, Michael Jackson. And this figure of 800,000 does not include the official Japanese fanclub(BigEast), the Malaysia fanclub (Kpop Kingdom), China fanclub, and those unofficial international fans.
Now, isn't it time for the local media to look into the whole of Asia for the real trend? If local media has known of the influence of
東方神起, or Kpop, in the whole of Asia, then why isn't the local media reporting on it?
Thank you for your time in reading this long email. Hope you will not appear to be too surprised upon conducting an online search. After a thoughout research, a clarification article will be encouraged. Thank you.
