Mnemonic Pawn Shops

I can't sleep, no I cannot. I watched David Letterman earlier tonight, and admired Denzel Washington. He's hot, if I do say so myself. It is almost 3am. I was digging through mp3s... trying to sort them for burning. I'm facing down a reformat of my entire computer. *kix it* It must be done, so no sense in dwelling on that. Anyway, I came upon this song that I used to rollerblade to when I was 10 years old. It made me laugh. Billy Squier - Everybody wants you. This boy behind the plexiglass screen would play the music selections and we'd all blade around and around, thinking we were cool. His sig song was that one... everybody wants you. Probably because everybody wanted him. Let's face it, we were all 8-14 years of age, and he was 17. If we had been thinking clearly, we'd have been asking ourselves what a 17 year old guy was doing hanging out with a bunch of little kids at a skate park. Furthermore, just how cool could he be if we were his only friends. Needless to say we did not consider that, so he was beautiful annnd... everybody wanted him.

So as I was thinking about this while talking to my friend Wayne, I was reminded of the other things I used to do when I was young... like sneaking into the pawn shops and wistfully admiring the guitars. The owners would always tell me "go home little girl, we can sell anything to you." and I'd pout all the way home. I wanted a guitar. I wanted all of the guitars. So one day I remember watching a man and woman walking in so I followed them, pretending like I was with them. Then I wandered over to where the guitars were hanging on the wall, and pulled one down. They had these amps there that you could plug the guitars into and check them out. So I plugged one in and started playing on that thing like I was Jimi Hendrix or something. Well, a 13yo Jimi Hedrix. So the sales guy walks over to the couple and tells them that their daughter is pretty good with that guitar, at which point I gave that couple the biggest puppy eyes I could manage, hoping they'd just smile and say "yes, she is, thanks." But alas, they did not, so I was send marching without my guitar. I came back later with my money and my dad, and bought one though. I got it for a birthday present, and then a few months later, I came in and bought another with him. I saved up all of my money for guitars. Some girls bought shoes, dresses, make up, whatever... I bought guitars.

Sometimes I wish I was little again.

So, I was talking to some people online and my friend Wayne tried to whip it out on cam. I must say, I was almost impressed, but then at the last minute he decided not to. Such a tease. lol Actually I'd have died of embarrassment if he had, but it was good for a giggle. *2 minutes later* That reminded me of the band Fountains of Wayne..... the "whipping it out" thing, and all this talk about guitars, and everybody wants you... pawn shops etc., lol So freudian. Anyway I had to look and see what Fountains of Wayne is up to right now and I was very impressed. They've released a version of the Kinks "Better Things" for the soundtrack of Denzel Washington's new movie, Manchurian Candidate. This so ties in together because I saw Denzel tonight on David Letterman. Wow.... my ellipitical brain just took me for a ride. Where two shall part, the opposing ends shall meet.... I watched Denzel tonight on D.L. and then my brain took me for a ride through time until it took me back to Denzel again.
