LONGWOOD HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES NATIONAL TEAM OF THE YEAR HONORS

Fayetteville, NC - Longwood High School Varsity Cheerleaders of Middle Island, NY has been named the 2005 National Cheerleading Team of the Year. Longwood High School is coached by Donna Roenbeck. The National Selection Committee, a group of college coaches and cheerleading experts, made the announcement on March 29, 2005.

Preliminary evaluation is based on an application process, which includes a comprehensive portfolio of accomplishments, team unity, academic achievement, and community endorsements.

Longwood High School Cheerleaders will now travel to Fayetteville, NC on May 19-22 to attend the 2005 National Cheer Conference (NCC). This will provide Longwood High School cheerleaders the opportunity to attend classes taught by top cheerleading experts and to interact with other cheerleaders from across the country. The team will be honored throughout the weekend for this prestigious award.

The National Team of the Year award was established in 1990 to recognize the nation's most talented, well-rounded cheerleading teams. The award is given in conjunction with the National Cheer Conference (NCC) by their parent company Cheer Ltd., Inc. Nominations are solicited from athletic directors, principals and booster club presidents with final selection determined by the NCC Advisory Board and the National Selection Committee.
