( shamelessly stole this idea from
charles_midair and
elaine242 )
So, a few of my friends here on LJ have taken to their blogs as a way to document their fitness endeavors, and I thought it was such a good idea that I'm following along.
Since the beginning of the year, I've dropped roughly 15 pounds, mainly due to giving up pop (SO HARD!). I'd like to be down to 130 by the end of the year, and that's only about 12 pounds away.
So, to do this, my plan is:
- Walk to my car after work. It's roughly a little over a half mile from the front of the UM Cancer Center to Mitchell Field parking, and it actually takes me less time to walk than take the shuttle, so I have no excuses.
- Start the 30 Day Challenge on EA Sports Active for the Wii. I've done some of the workouts on this already, so I know it will challenge me.
- Start training at then end of July for the Big House Big Heart 5k run on October 3. I've already downloaded the C25K app for my iTouch, and I plan on using that for training. I can do this!
- Start eating better in general. Keep off the pop, bypass the desserts at work, good snacks at home. Made my own yogurt for the first time and that came out really good, so I'll be adding that to my repository of recipes. Also, having a granola bar for breakfast during the week while waiting for the shuttle bus at 5 am.
So, there's my plan. Hopefully I can stick with this, and will report back here. Please feel free to comment, I need all the support I can get!
