Maybe I'm just being myopic, but I can only think of two or three people I know who have graduated from UNM and gone on to find a job actually related to their degree. The vast majority of college graduates I know have jobs that don't require a college degree at all.
Granted, my field of study basically boils down to "wacky trivia to bring up at parties", and I spent more time in college working on personal projects than I did going to classes and studying, so I'm not surprised that college wasn't able to find ME a job, but it seems like college (or at least UNM) really isn't very good at helping ANYONE find a job.
Or maybe I'm just coming at this from a bad assumption, and college is actually primarily about just learning interesting-if-not-at-all-useful things, rather than preparing students to get jobs in their field of interest.
What do you guys think?
