I'm 22 now. Crap!

So I really should be studying at the moment, but really unmotivated.

Had some birthday celebrations this week.

My actual birthday (Monday 23rd October), was spent having a picnic lunch with my gyros (aka Greek) momma Maria. It was pretty much perfect weather of 23degrees with the sun beaming and it was mildly warmish.

We ate some roasted chicken, Turkish bread, basil and cashew dip, tomatoes, crispy M&Ms, and some home-made Greek biscuits her mum made.

Anyway, I will post some of the pictures taken some time next week after my exams are done.

Boyfriend baked me a chocolate cake. A flourless one that was made with almond meal (if that’s how you spell it). I was laughing so hard when I went to blow out the candles on this cake because it had all this icing sugar on the top, and when I blew out the candles, a whole heap of icing sugar was blown off and somehow all landed on him and Maria.

Had dinner at a Japanese restaurant on Chapel St named Tepanyaki or something. It was bad - overly priced and didn’t even taste good. The agedashi tofu was pretty flavourless. The tofu wasn’t really crunchy and the agedashi broth had hardly any flavor. Also, the salmon sushi had this garlic and parsley thing chucked on top of it that I didn’t think made it taste too great either. I’m never going to that place again.

Had work on Thursday. My birthday was celebrated with a morning tea with our newly restructured department. The department I was once with consisted of only about 10-15 people. Now, because 3 departments have been merged - there’s about 30 or so people altogether in the department I belong to. I now belong to the “Income and Rebates” department.

So a baked cheesecake was made by the boyfriend and myself. Turned out way better than I expected. My curry manager seemed to really like the cake coz she helped herself to about 3 or 4 pieces. She’s not exactly ‘thin’ and I know that cheesecake was fatty as it had a huge tub of sour-cream (about 30% fat), 500g cream cheese, and three whole eggs.

However, I think the cheesecake made me feel a bit ill later. Think all the fat and creaminess of it made my stomach feel a little weak.

Jason decided to drop by and say hi to the gang also. He used to work in Income & Rebates for about 6 months during his graduate program at CML. He now works in Tooronga but has been having a couple of meetings held at Mulgrave so he comes around sometimes to say hi and everything.

Jason bought me some McNuggets from Maccas too, with sweet&sour sauce (my favorite…dribble dribble). Unfortunately, I didn’t even get to eat my 6 pack of nuggets because of my stomach ache, so I just let him eat them - though he didn’t even finish them. But I felt bad not eating them, since he had specifically bought them for me.

During our afternoon tea break, Jason and I went upstairs to the CML courtyard. It was kind of cold, but nice and sunny. 90% of the people at the courtyard were smoking, so we decided to get a place to sit where we wouldn’t be bombarded with smoke.

I decided to bring a cup of tea with me to the courtyard. I drink so much tea when I work. I think I drink about 6 cups or so each time I work. So I found out Jason lives on his own, but pays no bloody rent because it’s his cousin’s house who is away on a long holiday or something so he’s just occupying the place for him. I wish I had a cousin I could move in with, and pay no rent!

We were talking so much, that we forgot about the time. What was supposed to be a 15 minute break, was extended to a 30 minute one. So we quickly rushed back to the office. I was scared that the managers knew how long I extended my break until, but no one seemed to notice when we got back ‘phew’.

So Jason went to attend to his meeting with his CPA mentor/supervisor while I was working away.

I stayed back at work until about 7.30pm, studying. I study so well at work, because it’s nice and quiet. After meeting with his mentor, Jason emailed me asking if I was still at work. I said, “sure am…staying here to study for a while”.

So he decided to join me in studying, since he had his CPA exam the next day to study for. I was kinda glad he decided to join me to study, because it is a bit creepy staying back at work til late by yourself, because it gets really deserted and quiet. We were pretty much the only two people in the building, on our level!

At 7.30pm, I had had enough of studying. My desk was all dusty so I said, “I should really clean this desk up, but so can’t be bothered because I’m just too tired!” So then Jason voluntarily cleaned my desk for me…I didn’t even ask him to. Did a pretty good job actually. He said, “hey aren’t you lucky, having a guy clean your desk for you. I don’t get anyone cleaning my desk for me at Tooronga!”

So we both walked back to our cars together. I had to drive him to his car, because it was further away. He helped carry all my lecture notes and everything too because I had so much stuff to bring back to the car.

So I hope Jason pops by my more often now, since he gives me food and cleans my desk for me lol.

So that was my first week of being 22 years old. I feel so old!
