yesterday was the zine fair, where words that stay (attempting to bring together perspectives traditionally marginalized not only in society at large, but also in those communities that purport to be accepting, but actually are re-imposing a homogenized version of reality) made it's slammin debut. we made a ton of cash [quote from darby: "if i'd known we'd be rollin in the dough, i woulda gotten into this zine business a long time ago!!"] <--um, no. but, even so, we did good and i was real proud of us.
darby did a workshop on "underrepresented voices" in the zine community and it went real well. the idea came up that audio zines may be a really good way to approach zine making and make it accessible. what do yall think?
also, i met a bunch of people who i'm going to see again real soon, and that made me happy. especially this one girl i keep seeing. we talked a bit and here's the rundown:
*into spoken word
*reads zines
*is hott
*is heavily involved in organizing the dc
apoc conference*is hott
*IS MIXED!!
um, hott? not to mention the cutie that i chatted it up/had dinner with for over 2 hours -- including attaining digits. damn, i'm a mack.
anywayz. it was a good day. i like friends, i like zines, and i like crushes. what more could a sister ask for in one room?
