It occured to me today that I had fallen off the world. This was when I was talking with one of my colleagues in the MFA program, who said that he had the choice the other day to get a hair cut or go to the bathroom.
Scheduling is pretty mad here, but let me explain the basic run down.
Since we returned from Winter Break, the schedule has been split into three 'style blocks' or "realms" as they are sometimes called - Commedia, Melodrama, and Clown. Each "stage" (pronounced 'stazh') lasts for five weeks, during which we have the following schedule:
Mon - Fri from 9 - 9 50 = warm up/daily practice
10 - 12 30 - tai chi, voice, Alexander Technique, Acro, or Games (one class each, with a ten minute break between)
Lunch till 2. 2-5 is a class in the style block, which includes explorations as well as provocations for the week which culminates in Performance Lab on Friday at 2. (and Example of a provocation: you are to present 'The Waking of Giants on the Face of the Earth,' which was an early provocation. Another exampla grata: Present a Comic Duo)
5 - 10 or 11 or later if one's group is so inclined, rehearsal.
That doesn't inlcude the extra assignments for the masters students. Papers, books to read, we had to form a band and perform a song (which was fun, and we did a pretty good job with Por Que te Vas)
This has been my life.
Soon, however, it will be summer and I will head back East, I hope.
