Dragon*con craziness

First let me just say, I'm exhausted.

This was my first con, and boy was it something. We roomed with Jason and Ash, which worked out well for all of us, I think. We all got along well, and to my knowledge there are no pending threats of violence. I've got some great ideas for a costume for next year (such as the much anticipated "Febreeze Fairy" and a slightly risque Autumn tree) Phi and Jason are thoroughly engrossed in a plot to be kilt wearing jedi... which would certainly be interesting.

Some of the panels I went to were really fun, some were informative, some were both... and some were excrutiatingly boring. The worst was a werewolf panel in the goth track. The write up was discussing different werewolf mythos and how they have changed over time... but the panel was dull, boring, and consisted of three authors talking about why they like werewolves and why they chose to write about them. Bleh. We left after about 5 minutes of that. All the really cool panels like the stargate cast panel, or harry potter, or mythbusters build team, or ghost hunters, had HUUUUGE lines. We're talking lines that started forming over an hour before the panels started. So I missed out on those.

But I got to do something even cooler to make up for the panels that I missed. I got to eat lunch with Terry Brooks (fantasy/scifi author) Terry Brooks is a really nice fun guy, and his wife is an absolute dear. I'm really glad that I got to meet both of them.

I also found a drawing that is going to be my first tattoo. I've been trying to find something that I liked for a while, and now I finally have. All I need to do now is save up the money and talk to a tattoo artist. Excitement!

Next year there will be more compact luggage, fewer things brought, and costumes. I also plan to stay out later. We were asleep by 1 am each night because we had to keep getting up really early to get to the panels that started at 10 or else we wouldn't have seats, and in some instances wouldn't have even been able to get into the hotel. I think attending some parties/dances will be a must, and just mingling in with the crazy nightlife should be fun.
