Beginning Week 2

Aug 24, 2008 22:19

Ah, so tomorrow morning is Monday, which will start my 2nd week in Graduate school. I should chronicle my adventures so far.

1) I managed to get completely signed up for all of my classes and research hours. I ended up with 15 hours total (6 of which are research; 3 graded, 3 pass/fail). I'm also taking a Human Biochemistry class, Macronutrients, and Master's seminar. It looks like I'll only have to complete 2 presentations and 3 papers this semester... (yay?) It could be worse. The macronutrients course is touted as the toughest course in the entire nutrition graduate curriculum (now if that isn't exciting I don't know what is!)

2) I'm slowly getting settled into the lab. Friday I got my first real taste (not literally) of some particularly nasty lab work. (Rat smoothies... I'll leave it at that) I'm looking forward to actually getting into the research. I believe that tomorrow will start that in earnest, as I get the lab specific radiation safety training from my PI.

3) Dragon Con is this coming weekend... and I dyed my hair in anticipation... the color? We'll call it flourescent red with blond streaks. Pictures will be forthcoming. I've been getting some very strange stares around town this weekend... but I like the way it looks; so tough cookies for the rest of the world.

I'm considering forcing myself to write something everyday... but we'll see if that pans out or not. For now, it's about my bedtime. So that's all for now, folks.

comfort zone, dragoncon, future, grad school
