katherine mentioned something to me based on buddhist psychology, that suffering comes from the desire we have to hold on to things. that attachment is what needs to be broken in order to release the past. to let go of all the pain in our lives and to forgive. that is what is needed to do in order to be happy alone. to be rid of that self-indulgent attitude. and to let go of all the anger and frustration in our lives. its that yearning for what once was or what could be that keeps us from appreciating what is now. when the present is enough to be satisfied and happy with, yet so easy to overlook.
