Hope in the strangest places
Have been working on papers on the Nanjing Massacre, Japanese colonisation of Korea and comfort women, and China's exploitation of its people's pain only when it's convenient for their political interests.
You go on the internet, and anywhere outside of academic journals (inside them, too, obviously), and the hate is just overpowering.
And guys, then I stumbled on Hetalia videos, and everyone was talking about how the three East Asian countries should get along together, and people from the different countries were all expressing hope for international friendship.
That's a weird, weird fandom. I feel strange participating in it most of the time, given that I bridle at the way it ignores mostly every controversial issue you can imagine. And sometimes cosplayers pull incredibly inappropriate stunts and incredibly inappropriate times.
But you know, if there's a little more love in the world, I think it's all good.
