Claire recovered from her scare/injury enough that she slept with me in the bed on Thursday night but reclaimed her dog bed on the floor Friday and last night. She did well on yesterday's hike, though she did not stray much from the trail and mostly just trotted along with us humans, leaving the running and exploration to the younger two dogs. Last night she was stiff and favoring her one rear leg almost imperceptibly, even after the narcotics, but better than I had feared she might be. Yuki and Allie were, of course, perfectly fine, if a bit tired. Today Claire is bossing Allie more than is strictly necessary, but Allie is also being more a brat than usual today. The joys of having a youngster and a senior dog in the same house, I suppose.
The baby bearded dragons are doing well. They do not like green pepper or stink bugs, but do quite enjoy red lettuce, strawberries, and meal worms. The smaller, sweeter one is quite calm now when being held, though it is still a bit difficult to catch them in their cage. The feistier, larger one still requires a more adept handler, trying to run away and convinced of her ability to fly (or at least, to fall from heights with no injury), but even she is becoming more resigned to handling. They are about 7 weeks old now, still pretty young and small, but growing. I think I am going to keep a log of their length, just for fun.
In other news, it snowed again today. I think my shovel is getting more use this winter than the last several, combined! I am not complaining, because I love the snow!
