Reviews!

I bought a whole bunch of new Lush recently, so here are my reviews!

King of Skin: 3.5/5
The Website's take: Take this bar, smooth it all over your damp body, dunk it (body, not bar) in the shower or bath again to rinse off then get dry, at which point you will understand why we call it the King of Skin. This unassuming bar is made to a patented Lush recipe with emollient, fresh bananas, oatmeal, avocados, moisturising cocoa butter, shea butter, almond oil and coconut butter. The fragrance is gorgeous (and it has changed a bit recently, for the better, we think), composed as it is of a bunch of skin softening essential oils (extra added bonus) including sandalwood, rose and frankincense. People can tell when you've given yourself a go with a King of Skin.

My take: I don't really like the smell - it's just sort of strange and offputting but I LOVE how this makes my skin feel! It's so soft and easy to use, it doesn't make a mess and it leaves my skin feeling so soft! I stand up in the bathtub, rub it over my body, then slide back into the bath to wash the little bits off me. Leaves my dry skin feeling so nice.

You Snap The Whip: 3/5
The Website's Take: When Helen Ambrosen invented the Soft Coeur massage bar it was called Soft Centre but it got renamed the Soft Coeur by the creative team. At the same time is was suggested that we should have Hard Core bar with exfoliating, ground pumice stone inside for people who like to treat themselves severely. Little did we think that Helen would actually come back with the actual article. You Snap the Whip is her hard core, coal black body butter for soft, strokeable, blackcurrant scented skin. It smells of blackcurrants because one of the creative team was constantly piping up about having her favourite massage bar brought back; those of you who remember Cherie Ripe's dark, smooth, sensual, fruity fragrance will want to have a weekly You Snap the Whip scrub. (At least). Those of you who are too young to remember it but who like the idea of scrubbing with a moisturising, macadamia nut oil, seriously exfoliating, cleansing charcoal bar which smells like Ribena will have to race us to the shops. To use it stroke the bar over your skin when it's wet and rinse off thoroughly in the bath or shower.

My Take: The smell isn't the best - it reminds me of cough drops. But this bar is super exfoliating, I love how it feels on my skin. I didn't find it was too messy at all - I kept the bar dry and just rubbed it on wet skin. It felt so good and definitely did it's job. Plus it's kind of fun to rub blueish stuff all over your body ;-) My biggest problem with this is that it doesn't last as long as King of Skin - it goes way to fast - I've used it twice sparingly and already my bar is getting tiny. It's a little to pricey to be an essential but it's definitely a good product to try.

Jungle: 5/5
The Website's Take: or all hair types - Massage Jungle into your wet, shampooed hair and it will sort out that jungle that is your tangled hair. It?s a bit over the top to have two revolutions in one Lush Times but this is a revolutionary conditioner, made with loads of fresh, tropical fruit, which we make in a long tube. It fits in the shampoo bar tin so you can take it on its holidays with you. What?s more, it?s Vegan! Bananas and figs soften your hair; kumquats and passion fruit make it shine. Avocados give up their vitamins, oil and protein to soften and protect. Cocoa butter softens and moisturisers your hair and scalp. It's for all hair types from wild beast to gentle butterfly.

My Take: I LOVE this stuff - so easy to use and the smell is awesome. I'm constantly grabbing the ends of my long hair during the day to smell them. Also Jungle holds up really well - mine's last almost 2 months - definitely worth the money. It smells wonderful, but the scent isn't over powering. I keep my Jungle in the plastic container it came in, in the shower.

Ring of Roses Buttercream: 3/5
The Website's Take:We make this rose pink Butter Cream with real rose absolute - not some paltry imitation of rose fragrance - so it is particularly lovely for dry skin and older bodies. Rose helps to soften hard skin and soothe soreness too. Toning lemon and orange essential oils are added to a beautiful infusion of fragrant garden flowers: larkspur, honeysuckle, marigold and cornflower. Glycerine and cocoa butter moisturise the skin to help it stay hydrated and supple. Amandopondo fans will recognise and love the scent; now you can shower with lemon and roses too!

My Take: I think I'm going to be a buttercream person - I love what this does to my skin and how it feels. It's to lemony/sweet scented for my tastes, but it gets points for the pretty color and the soft softness it has. I really hoped this would smell more floral and less lemony - I think I'll have to keep trying buttercreams to find the scents I like best!
