Vanilla Dee-lite: better with age?

For over a year now I've had a bottle of Vanilla Dee-lite body lotion hanging around in my room/bathroom. I purchased it at the end of '09 off the UK website (if I remember right) to try it out...and needless to say the fragrance didn't appeal to me or draw me in. I had been using Dream Cream previously, which I adore, and while the lotion did a good job of moisturizing my skin I originally gotten it for the scent (since, as we know, Dream Cream's smell although not bad isn't something I'd wear for fragrance). So for the past year or so it's been chilling out in one of my bedroom drawers and until recently pulled out to sit on one of the shelves in my bathroom. About a week ago I got the urge to try it out again, even though it had already expired. It smelled fine (still does), and I lotion'd myself up after a shower...and I LOVE it. Vanilla Dee-lite smells amazing now, especially on my body. Although it is expired and didn't smell all that great when I first got it.
Has anyone else taken a while to warm up to Vanilla Dee-lite? Has anyone else experience this change of smell over time? Or maybe I'm one of the odd ones out, lol? I know it's already expired and that it should technically be thrown away but it still smells fine and works (just like a number of my large shower gels I have; smell fine and are expired). Besides I'd feel kinda bad throwing away almost 250g of lotion, what a waste.
