Lush and hair dye and you! (or rather, me.)

So, should Big be considered totally off-limits for people with colored hair? I went from medium-brown to red tonight, went to take a bath (with a random Marshmellow Melt I found in the bathroom, lol) read the label and realized, f me, lemon juice ( Read more... )

conditioner: retread, shampoo: big

the salt in Big will strip your hair like crazy. New can be pretty stripping as well, and since you went LIGHTER to have blonde- there wasn't colour to be stripped. It's a problem if you add colour to the hair, such as red. Red notoriously fades the fastest out of dyes as well. Henna might be the way to go, as I've found it has far better staying power. But as for Lush and haircare- the shampoos generally strip colour a lot.

That must be why it hasn't done anything to mine because I went lighter...you may not want to use big then.

I dyed my hair from light blonde to red then swapped from Godiva to Big and while Godiva was sucking the red out slowly (and noticeably to me) Big lightened my hair about 2-3 shades with every wash. Crazy stripping.

I love what it does for my waves too, which is why I gave up being a redhead and went back to blonde. HTH.

personally i wouldn't use it (at least not on a regular basis). both salt and lemon juice are notorious for stripping hair color.

I use Big (w/Rehab 2x/week), but I don't stray too far from my natural hair color. However, I don't notice that it "strips" my color (hair is naturally ashy-brown and I dye to a warm brown) any more than any other shampoo I've used in the past. Also, red is notorious to fade quickly, so it might not matter WHAT you use - just the process of shampooing will fade reds, in my experience.

For me, the benefits of using Big far outweighs the perceived stripping effect.
