Face Help Please!

Dec 25, 2009 01:52

Hey all,

I used to use Herbalism daily with Ocean Salt 1-2 times a week and I just stopped, not being able to afford it....but I miss my face being so clear so I'm thinking of going back to it. What's the difference between Hebalism and Dark Angel? I'm considering trying Dark Angel.

Thanks!

Dark Angels is a little harsher and scrubbier. It's a little more drying, too. It's going to balance and even out your skin tone, but it won't have the redness-reducing chlorophyll that Herbalism has. I also feel like it sits heavier on the skin.

I generally recommend them as follows - if you're just trying to fight oil and brighten your skin, Dark Angels is a good way to go. If you're trying to control oil AND breakouts (and reduce the symptoms of them), or if your skin is only borderline oily (or normal/oily combo), then Herbalism is a good way to go.

Thanks! I think I'll stick with Herbalism but try to get a sample of Dark Angels to give it a try.

I've battled bad skin my entire life, I miss how clear my skin used to be with Lush stuff! I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

A $15 tub of Herbalism usually lasts me upwards of three months - totally affordable given the quality. ;) I'm sure you can spare ~$1/week for awesome skin!

A sample sounds like a good way to go. Just be aware that Dark Angels is very...purging, for lack of a better word. Breakouts usually start underneath the skin about three weeks before you actually see them, and Dark Angels pulls all of that out in the first week. Expect to break out if you do switch (but a sample, or occasional use only, isn't enough to do it, in my experience, so you should be fine unless you switch).

Hope that helps, and let us know how it goes, if you do switch! :)

Yeah, Herbalism lasts forever...it's Ocean Salt that's the killer, money wise...but the combo of the two was amazing.

Hm, thanks I'll have to think about Dark Angel

We need more Caryn's out there :)

To answer your question, I've done that but not in awhile. The last pot I was using (and they last forever) was from the UK which has larger salt crystals and you need to be careful. I prefer NA's Ocean Salt!

I prefer Dark Angels to Herbalism. I get mainly hormonal acne, on my cheeks, and I used to love Herbalism for it, but then I tried a sample of Dark Angels and it just blew me away. It's the LUSH product that got my skin the clearest. It can be harsh, but it's not as strong as Ocean Salt. It's kind of in between Herbalism/Angels on Bare Skin and Ocean Salt, exfoliation wise.

For me, Herbalism calms and reduces redness, but I feel like Dark Angels actually helps pimples heal and go away faster. Plus, I needed to use much less of it than Herbalism. Dark Angels also made my skin really soft and even looking. I notice that with the other roll cleansers, there's a bit of residue left on your skin, but Dark Angels didn't have that, and my face felt very clean.

I'd get a sample of Dark Angels to see how it works for you.

I didn't like AOBS at all.

I'm gonna try getting a sample of Dark Angels. Thanks!

Everyone's different, I guess. I've only tried Dark Angels once. It was in the shower and I made sure to rinse, rinse, rinse, and then rinse some more. And when I got out, I had so much left on my skin it was like I had a terrible five o clock shadow. So I tried rinsing in the sink. Then I tried toner. Then I scrubbed for two minutes with a wet wash cloth before it was gone. It was so frustrating because I liked how scrubby and fine it was but man, all that work to get it off my skin made me never want to try it again.

When I asked the manager at my store about it, she said that it's a common thing she hears about DA. Maybe I just have more porous skin on my cheeks that I thought I did. But I'm glad it was a sample and I didn't purchase it.

Yeah, see, I never had that problem, and I have relatively pale skin. I used it at the sink, and rinsed the same as I would for any cleanser. Idk, maybe my skin is just really non-porous. I definitely agree though; everyone's different.
