Okay, so it's been out for aaaages, but since the upcoming products aren't on the website yet, I figured I'd post scans for those who haven't seen a copy of the latest Lush Times.
I'm really excited by the new bath melts - they look loovely.
VANILLARY: In the last edition of Lush Times, when you could only get the Vanillary fragrance from mail order, we failed to mention that the latter half of Vanillary is in fact named after Lush's own Hilary, a multi-talented woman who can make all our products, a cracking writer, doyenne of the forum, who spends all her spare time campaigning and rescuing animals and is occasionally mistaken for Vivienne Westwood on the streets of Tokyo. Now it's coming to the shops, we need to give you the full story. Vanillary is a sweet scent with a hint of intrigue. We could say that this sounds just like Hilary to make it a good story, but it doesn't really. It smells of crunchy toffee, vanilla, tonka beans and jasmine; unbelievably amazing (which Hilary most definitely is.)
VANILLA IN THE MIST: "Please Mo! May we have some vanilla soap? Pretty please, if we ask nicely?" we said at a creative team meeting one day. Mo raised one eyebrow and said "Well I might have something here." She whipped the cover off a soap container and a tantalising scent filled the room. But what was this? Not just vanilla! Coffee as well. Oh my goodness, if we could bottle and sell this delight in the room, there'd be world peace. Most vanilla soaps are just a boring old bar which smell as if they've had a drop of essence put in as an afterthought. Ours has real vanilla pods, from the vanilla orchid, dried, crushed and fragrant - the black streaks on the top. We've stirred in ground coffee to give you a bit of a scrub. The scent? Vanilla, with a dash of coconut and tonka, since you ask. It's like washing with a dream dessert: quadruple espresso and a top quality Italian ice-cream.
NOUBAR: Contains nuts! Then the day got even better! Mo pulled the covers off to strip bare her brand new Palm Oil Free Sexy Naked Noubar Soap! It's one of those "But it looks so delicious, surely I could just take a tiny bite..." soaps that are her speciality. To be fair it does look rather like nougat, what with all those crushed pistachios to give you an exfoliating scrub. Don't do it. Just wash with it. To give another posh confectionary touch, Mo's given it a Turkish rose absolute fragrance, with coffee and a hint of smoky vetivert. It's long name is to remind everyone of the campaign to stop primary forests being destroyed [and] replaced with palm plantations: profitable for the owners but disastrous for the local people and wildlife and suicidal for our shared environment. We don't just campaign, we act. And remember, wash with it, no chewing!
HAPPY BLOOMING: Sometimes, when our Japanese colleagues translate directly into English, they come up with an excellent product name. Happy Blooming is all about cherry blossom time, so Helen made this with cherries specially for them. Simon, our joint head perfumer, created a lovely new fruity scent for it made with sweet benzoin and soothing ylang blossoms. There's a mass of calming calamine powder, too; all in all, this is a beautifully pink and pleasant bath. Step out, and you'll feel smooth, softy and sleek. Another bonus - it's a triple treat for three baths.
DOUBLE DIPPER: When we were kids, a double dipper was a sherbet sweetie with two flavours of sherbet and a swizzle stick to dip in them. (Some of us preferred the dibdabs, with a lolly that you could lick, stick in the sherbet powder, lick off the fizziness, then dip in again.) Helen was thinking about that when she invented our new sherbety bath; our Double Dipper is made with powdered sugar and lemon oil - just like the original Arabic drink sherbet. It's actually a triple dipper! You can snap it for three smooth, refreshing, cleansing baths.
MURRAY RIVER SALT: This purifying single melt is named after the naturally pink salt crystals you'll find inside it. It's from the Murray River in Australia; it's exotic origins inspired Helen to search for equally unusual materials to turn into an amazingly cleansing, calming soak. Murumuru and illipe butters come all the way from the rainforests to help your skin stay hydrated, and we get our extra virgin coconut oil from Nias, a small Indonesian island. Simon blended a special fragrance made with Australian essential oils: calming sandalwood, eucalyptus to clear your senses and a brand new discovery, fire tree oil. Go exploring at bathtime.
EDIT: *Facepalm* And naturally, photobucket has resized so some of them are unreadable. Give me a minute, I'll type out the blurb of the smallest ones.
EDIT II: Just got back from town, and Noubar and Vanilla in the Mist are out in UK shops! Not sure why not on the site... Anyways, Noubar smells very nutty, and is creamier in texture than it looks in the picture, and Vanilla in the Mist is bright yellow! Don't be put off, though - it smells amazing, like rich, creamy coffee dessert. Will definitely be grabbing a bit once I've used up some more of my current stash.
