Jungle and Oily Roots

I ordered Jungle from Lush UK a few weeks ago and there was a chunk that was a little more liquidy. I cut it off and decided to use it first just in case it goes bad. I do like it better this way since I don't have to mash it with water. Anyone know what this is and if it's bad?
I have oily roots and thin hair and am trying not to wash every day. So far I've tried Squeaky Green, Jumping Juniper, I love Juicy, Hybrid and Big to tame the oil. I think Big has done the best thus far even though I'm not sure that was its intended purpose. Which shampoos are best at postponing washing?
