Last year, I went a little bananas during the end-of-year sale. I bought... a lot of Lush. Enough to fill my hall closet and make everything else stored inside smell like Lushie deliciousness (seriously, my little travel packs of Kleenex smell like bath bombs now). I still have about 25% of what I purchased last time, mostly shower gels and hair products and a few precious discontinued items.
This year, I was in the middle of nowhere when the sales began. I wasn't at home, close to five (5!) Lush stores. The website was already barren when I looked at it, bleary-eyed, on the 26th. The UK sale began, but wasn't particularly friendly to US customers - all of the items I wanted would push me into the higher shipping brackets when the free goodies were added in. So I gave up and dragged my boyfriend off to Lush Montgomery last night, knowing that the store would be cleaned out. I hadn't purchased any holiday products this year except the online chat party specials... so I was yearning for some Lush Puds and Strawberry Santas and whatnot to last me through 2009.
OMG, it was so empty! It's a big store, usually heaped with products. The shelves and tables and bins are mostly bare. It was crazy. But it does mean that they'll start 2009 with very fresh stock, so that's good! I looked at what was left and got $19 of Gold, Frankincense, & Beer (another tub of GFB and a tub of Snow Showers for free), the store's last three Magic ballistics for the price of one, six bars of soap for the price of two (3x Bohemian, Ice Blue, Ooh La La, and Angel's Delight)... AND TWO MERRY CHRISTMAS HATBOXES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. Yes, two giant filled-to-the-brim hatboxes. See the title - I'm a little out of control.
But it's all so amazing, and I really did get almost all of the season's special items because those boxes contain pretty much everything except the jellies and a couple of other bits. I'll be giving some to friends and family, and the rest will scent my Kleenex for another year. ;)
