Well, I started working at Lush a few weeks ago and it's been pretty cool. All the holiday items are in now and I can't wait to try it all. Some reviews of Lush products I've used recently or currently. My skin type: normal with oily t-zone (well, more like just my forehead and nose).
Fresh Face Mask: Cupcake- My Cupcake lasted for 6 weeks without going bad! It's meant for oily or problem skin, according to Lush. I did it about every other day, and I loved how it made my skin baby soft, and my larger pores looked invisible (I know it's only temporary) and it definitely felt refreshed. As for really changing my skin, I don't think it did very much...my skin felt nice for the day after I used it, but I didn't notice any miraculous change in my skin. It's more of a "treat" for my face. I would credit Coalface+TTW+Vanishing Cream for making my skin look nice, the Cupcake is just a bonus. Might repurchase, after I try several more face masks to see which I like best.
Fresh Face Mask: Brazened Honey- This was a more liquid consistency than Cupcake, and it reminded me of curry, due to the bright yellow color and some of the spices used in it (like coriander!). I liked the little scrubby bits in it (ground almond shells?), good for gentle exfoliation. I liked that it wasn't as thick or heavy as Cupcake. It also helped tighten the appearance of my pores, like Cupcake, and my skin did feel quite refreshed afterwards, though not as much as with Cupcake, but I think that's because Cupcake had peppermint oil in it, which feels really cooling. The few bumps I have felt much smaller and are going away after a few uses of Brazened Honey.
Cleanser: Angels on Bare Skin- I did a brief review of this a little over a month ago, but I have to say, after a month of using it, I just don't think it works for me. The first few days I used it, my skin felt so soft and my pores appeared smaller. Then I started breaking out in small bumps on my forehead and around my jawline/lower cheek. It smelled nice, and I really wanted to like it, but I had clear skin before using AOBS! After trying it for several weeks, bumps kept coming or were not going away. I think AOBS was too rich for my skin. I don't know what in it was making me break out, but I stopped using it. I bought a 1/4 lb slice of it, and I still have a bit more than a quarter of it left, so it does last a while.
Cleanser: Coalface- I switched over to Coalface after reading positive reviews from people with my skin type. I can already see the difference it makes after using it for almost two weeks-- the bumps I got from AOBS are going away. I have a "squeaky clean" feeling after using Coalface, but it doesn't make my skin tight and dry like when I used Neutrogena. It doesn't smell bad to me, just faintly masculine. Plus I like that it's in solid bar form-- AOBS was kind of a pain to use. I slice up my Coalface into tiny pieces about the size of my fingertip, and each slice has lasted me about a week. It's too unwieldy to rub the entire bar over my face. I like that it has a longer shelf-life and is easier to use than AOBS.
Shower gel: Rub Rub Rub- I thought this smelled faintly like plastic or rubber in the bottle, but I could also smell the citrus and Sakura scent. I really liked the blue color though, so I thought maybe the plastic/rubber smell wouldn't be too bad. It's not too thin, and lathers up well. I like that the scent isn't overpowering, although I wish it would linger on my skin a little bit after the shower. Once I used it in the shower, it smelled a lot better (shaking the bottle seemed to help too). The sea salt made my skin feel soft, and I didn't get a gross film on my skin like I do with Bath and Body Works shower gels. This was free from a recent in-store promo...I might re-purchase. I wish that it smelled a little stronger. I love citrus and minty scents, as long as they aren't completely overpowering.
Shower gel: Ghost- I was intrigued by reviews online that said Ghost was a light, "green" floral scent, not too heavy. I picked it up a few nights ago and I loved the smell. Very light floral fragrance, as other reviewers said. I can't stand Bath and Body Works-type floral scents, and this was just perfect for me. I was excited for the shimmer in the shower gel, but it didn't show up at all on my skin. A light hint of shimmer would have been nice. I could see it in the bottle. It lathered well. Same complaint as the RRR-- the scent doesn't seem to last on my skin. There are only three bottles left at my store, so I think I'm going to go grab one more to stock up, since it's limited edition
Bath bomb: Stardust: Ooooh, so pretty. I love anything with stars. It smelled a bit sweet to me, but not as nauseatingly sweet as Snow Fairy. It turned the bath water a very pretty pastel pink, and the scent, which had been so strong in bath bomb form, was lightly sweet when it dissolved in the tub. I kinda liked the star-shaped sparkles. "Stuff" inside bath bombs and bubble bars don't bother me, since they get caught by my drain trap anyway.
Bath bomb: Mr. Butterball- Someone broke this bath bomb in the store, so I got to take it home. I heard this was good for cocktailing with other bath bombs or bbs, so I put this in for a few minutes by itself before I put in Stardust. Very moisturizing with the cocoa butter bits. It also smelled faintly toasty, with vanilla. I liked it. I doubt I'll use it by itself though, since I like my baths to be more scented or change the color of the water. Mr. Butterball by itself is too plain.
