good times

Monday is here again, and it isn't bad except Timmy rolled in dead fish guts earlier and despite my best shampoo efforts he still has a foul odor. haha. I was walking Frankie (Melissa's dog) too so he smelled rancid too. I was keeping an eye on them but when they are off leash and frolicking this way and that it is difficult to stop them from being gross dogs. So Timmy ate some dead ick too, but that was about 9:45 this morning and now it is 3:27 pm and he is still alive and hasn't puked, so that bodes well.
I had a great weekend starting with a fun dinner at a trendy chain restaurant called BJ's (lots of jokes about that) with Melissa and three of her vet tech friends, and one of their significant others. So Ben wasn't the only guy and he got along well with the other guy, yay. The place was paaaaacked when we got there and we were told we had to wait an hour and a half. It was pouring outside and cold, and even though we were seriously considering going somewhere else, we ended up mingling near the bar (which was packed too)chatting about this and that, bonding and what not. No awkward moments and no lapses in conversation. We were all pretty giddy. BJs is a brewpub and had some tasty beer, one called Nutty Brewnette, like me! Ben got that and it probably wasn't a good idea for me even to have a sip on an empty stomach but I did and I was preeeeety giggly by the time we were seated which ended only being 45 minutes later. Then I ordered a porter with my dinner. Convo at dinner was good. I asked the new girls about what they did before vet tech school and blah blah blah. The hilarious moment came after I had stolen Ben's beer: he made a gesture with his hand and knocked the half full pint of beer over, it went streaming over the side and with a scream (i really screamed) I jumped away and most of the beer poured on the seat and Melissa (who wasn't even drinking alcohol). I would have thought it was funny in normal circumstances but because I was giddy I laughed hysterically for a full minute with tears streaming down my face. Now that I think about it I must have looked like an idiot. Oh well. Melissa wasn't mad, good sport, but our car smelled like a bar on the way home.
On Saturday, after a lovely lie in, I had a frustrated cry fit about health care/ education and the government and how our country is going down the shitter. Wonderful Ben sat and listened and was very sympathetic and said afterward, wow you must really care about this. Anyway, tmi, after that he went to ultimate frisbee where Melissa and I joined him later to watch him play, and find some eligible guys for Melissa to stalk. There are one or two that I would totally crush on if I wasn't a married woman, and I said so much, to Ben's dismay, hehe. Then Mel came over and we all hung out at my place for the rest of the day. It was quite lovely. I made veggie quesadillas to feed my troops, and there was tea and stuff like that.
On Sunday, after another lovely lie in, Ben and I took Timmy to the school to let him chase balls. Then we went and watched Rachel (Ben's older sister) in a dance competition. She didn't advance to the next level but it wasn't her fault. It was a jack n' jill comp and she got paired with two goof ball, lamo dancers. It was fun to watch people dancing cuz they were good and looked like they were having a ball.
So that was my weekend. Poor Mel is sick so I took her some OJ and walked Frankie this morning, hence the dead fish rolling incident. I did some homework earlier then I paused to do some housework and listen to LOTR. Oh my gosh! Gollum just fell into the fire with the ring! And the Nazgul disappeared like puffs in the sky! Soo exciting!
If you haven't yet, those of you with netflix streaming, check out Party Down. It is sarcastic and funny. I am keeping up this habit!
