I tend to be really awkward in social situations around most people myself. @_@
And I had so much trouble making friends at school last year. D= One day we had to go to the Met museum in groups for class, and I talked to the people in my group quite a bit. But during lunch, when I thought I heard someone say something about Tiny Toon Adventures, I was like "Oh, that's the show that made me start drawing!", and everyone just stopped and stared at me with the most "OMGWTF YOU'RE SUCH A WEIRDO" faces ever. D= I didn't think until it was too late that I should have mentioned that I was five years old when that show inspired me to start drawing. XD"
Also, over the last two summers, I went to different music programs to play guitar, and also felt like clearly the worst one there. XD" Two summers ago, there was a kid who'd been playing just as long as I had but was already much better, and last summer, there were kids who hadn't ever played guitar at all who STILL played better than I did. @_@
So yeah, I can totally relate to your situation there. XD" I'm sure everyone has their doubts and insecurities, but what I've noticed is that when it comes to most of the stuff I worry about, chances are nobody else even notices it. XD" So maybe when you're being insecure about something, the people around you might not see it that way, or be too busy worrying about their own problems or something. o.o

Thank you for your reply! I can't believe you read the whole thing! Yeah, I always prefer to think everyone's too worried about their own shit to worry about me. In fact, I think part of the problem in Japan was just that I was just not talking, so people didn't know if I was approachable! Hey, I'm learning the guitar too! (I seem to say that every time I talk to you...hey, me too! hey so am I! lol!) It's really hard. Hope you have a good night's rest!
