Things are changing in JUMP house. The sense of unity and harmony that were long lost have filled the atmosphere once again. All members are enthusiastic in giving their full contribution for the upcoming play. They have 3 months to prepare themselves. With their career at stake, everyone is eager to prove that Hey Say JUMP is still relevant.
To prove that the group are not a nuisance- that Hey Say JUMP is group of real talent.
Mr. Johnny gives all the freedom to the members to decide about the theme of the play, and to come put with their own story board. Their seniors volunteer to help the group; Takizawa agrees to become the co-director with Hikaru, Higashiyama has been working with Keito for the musical scores, while Ohno is joining hand with Chinen for the choreography.
Ryutaro has returned to JUMP house, and has been acting as the group’s general manager- making sure that all members are following their practice schedule. They even emptied their living room and convert it into their rehearsing area to ease their practice- which is very helpful especially for Yamada and Daiki who are still busy filming their Kindaichi drama.
“Are you sure you want to do this Yabu-kun?” Takizawa asks the boy again for the 3rd time.
Yabu didn’t reply. He touches the scar on the left side of his face, and later give his senpai a weak nod. “I have to.”
Hikaru, who is sitting next to Yabu, gently put his hand on the boy’s right shoulder. “Yamada is willing to take the role. His filming will end soon-”
Yabu shook his head. “That boy already has too much to carry on his shoulder. I can do this Hika. After all, people has already seen my scary face. There’s nothing more to hide.”
Takizawa sighs. Indeed, Yabu’s injured face has become the hot topic on newspapers and online entertainment websites. Somehow a reporter managed to get the up-close photo of Yabu’s scar- causing ruckus within the showbiz industries. There were mixed reviews about Yabu’s new face- and dozens of magazine and TV interviews come in exclusively for Yabu. Naturally, the company declined all the offers.
But the comments left on the websites are very disturbing for the injured boy.
“He looks like a monster!”
“Anyone sees him in the middle of the night will die of heart attack!”
“I would kill myself if I were him.”
“It would have been better for Yabu to die than living with this embarrassment.”
“What if it wasn’t an accident? Maybe the psycho Inoo did this to Yabu! He shaved his own head remember??”
And many more.
Yabu read those hateful comments in tears. That was the time when he decided to take on the role as the phantom. Although Yabu’s heart was crushed by the horrible statements, he has his family and JUMP by his side to keep him on his feet. He can’t thank them enough. He owes them his life, and not giving up to the nasty critics is the least that Yabu can do for himself.
Takizawa gently taps Yabu’s right shoulder. “You’ll pull through. We will make sure this play succeeds. JUMP will thrive again. At least I believe so!”
“Thank you Takizawa-kun,” Yabu smiles at the senpai he admires the most. “Thank you for not giving up on us.”

“WHATTT??????” Inoo shouts, almost causing Ryutaro to choke on his snack.
“Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!” Daiki immediately cups Inoo’s mouth. “You are too loud!” It is their precious break in the middle of the rehearsal and Yabu is napping after taking his noon medicine. Daiki doesn’t want to wake the boy.
Takaki stands up and pulls Daiki’s hand. “This is not the way to go Dai-chan,” he calmly takes Inoo and get him to sit back on his chair. “That request is a bit too much for Kei.”
“But it will be a perfect promotion campaign!” Daiki defends his proposal. “Think about it- we’ll get coverage not only from the entertainment media, but also from the healthcare community!”
“No, Kei is not doing it,” Takaki, who is standing on Inoo’s left side, reaffirms his answer.
“Oh come on Yuya! There’s nothing to lose here! People already know about Kei’s illness. We can use it to our advantage!”
“They only know that Kei ‘shaved his head’. They didn’t know about his exact diagnosis. Did you forget how our fans react to Kota’s photo? What makes you think they will be nicer to Kei?”
“They won’t, for sure,” Daiki replies to Takaki. “But this time Kei will not face it alone. And Kei, if you agree to this, you will be a great role-model not only to the public but also to our juniors. Inoo Kei will be remembered as the man who is brave to fight the stigma.”
Inoo cups his face with his hands. He is breathing rapidly. Instinctively he leans his head against Takaki’s body, the only person who can makes him feel safe every time his panic attack kicks in. Takaki gently stroke Inoo’s hair, allowing the boy to pace his breathing again. Inoo slowly breath in, pauses for mere seconds and let out long exhales- repeating this cycle several times.
Chinen and Ryutaro look at each other. For the past one month, Takaki has been accompanying Inoo to his therapy session, and they were taught multiple ways to cope with panic situations. Inoo doesn’t need his anxiety medications that often anymore. They see this as an improvement.
But Daiki’s obstinate request for Inoo to become the speaker for Mental Health promotion by revealing his own illness is a little bit over the limit. Just by media knowing Inoo to have depression has caused a lot of unpleasant reactions among their fans- what will happen if Inoo reveals that he has Delusional Disorder?
To be fair, Ryutaro understands why Daiki is acting this way. The boy has been so persistence in his attempt to find sponsors for the play. Amid his drama filming, Daiki get the chance to meet various label representatives and tried his best to convince them to be part of their play. Unfortunately, he didn’t get favourable result. Until an offer came from the National Mental Health Foundation- they agree to fund their play at a bigger venue- if Hey Say JUMP agrees to be their speaker for Mental Health campaign for the next 2 years.
Honestly, the other members have all agreed to this, except for Inoo and Takaki. Agreeing to this offer means securing the group survival for at least 2 more years- which gives enough time for the group to recover from this hurdle.
However, as Yabu stressed in their meeting before- they will only do it if Inoo agrees, since Inoo is the one battling the illness.
“How do you feel now?” Takaki asks as he hands a glass of water to Inoo.
Inoo just give a few nods, sipping from the glass to further calm himself.
“I’m not sure if I can do it Dai-chan,” Inoo put the glass on the coffee table. “I just recovered… I’m not sure if I can handle the pressure. Honestly I think I won’t even be here if Yuya is not with me.”
“Can I ask something?” Chinen suddenly raises his right hand like a primary school student.
“What is it Chii?”
“Are you guys dating?”
“Eih???” Inoo frowns. “What’s with the sudden question?”
“You have been holding each other’s hand since… since forever!” Chinen points at Inoo’s right hand that has been wrapping around Takaki’s forearm.
Inoo and Takaki quickly draw their hands from each other. Their faces have become red from the embarrassing remarks by Chinen.
“Yuyan you seriously need to lose weight! Your blushing face looks like tomato! Your cheeks are chubbier than Yama-chan now,” Ryutaro teases.
“Omaeeeeee!!!!” Takaki walks in Ryutaro’s direction with his angry face.
Ryutaro immediately get up from the couch and runs towards the stairs.
“Fat Yuyan!! Catch me fatty!!!”
“You are sooooo toasted Ryu!!!!!” Takaki chases after the boy.
Inoo smiles. He loves watching Takaki being childish and playful with Ryutaro. This side of Takaki makes him adorable.
“Uhuk!!,” Daiki fakes his cough, bringing Inoo’s attention to Daiki and Chinen again.
“Gomen,” Inoo apologizes. “Where were we?”
“The sponsorship.”
“Ah… yes… that one…” Inoo’s face becomes bitter again. “I need more time to think this through… I’m sorry Dai-chan…”
“It’s okay…” Daiki gets on his feet. “I want you to know I am only thinking for our group’s survival. I’m not pushing you or anything. If you feel this is too much, then we’ll find another way.”
“Thank you Dai-chan,” Inoo replies to the boy before Daiki excuse himself to his room.
Chinen moves closer to Inoo.
“Takaki-kun loves you Inoo-chan,”
“He was.”
“And he still is. Maybe you should give him a chance.”
Inoo keeps staring at his feet. “He is too good for me. He deserves someone better.”
“You said it yourself just now, you wouldn’t recover without his support. I am no expert, but just by looking anyone can tell how much he cares for you. Even when you denied his feelings before.”
“Chii…”
“Emm?”
“Yuya has not say he loves me for sometimes now.”
“Eih?? Really?”
Inoo nods. “I kinda miss him pestering me.”
“But you told him you don’t like it. Maybe that’s why he stops.”
“Maybe… or maybe he has given up on me.”
“I don’t think that’s the case,” Chinen disagrees. “Yuyan has been so diligently attached to you. You know Inoo-chan, actions speak louder than words.”
Inoo smiles at the younger boy. “Sometimes I forget that you are still a middle-school student.”
“We are forced to mature faster being in this line of work. And hanging out with Ohno-kun really influences me in a way,” Chinen leans against the couch. “He is a great senpai, just like you Inoo-chan.”
“I am just a burden to all of you.”
“That is only your own perception. No one is feeling that way.”
“None of this would happen if I wasn’t too stubborn…”
“Inoo-chan, how many times should I tell you… it’s not your fault.”
“If I hadn’t kissed Kota, none of this would happen.”
“It was an accident!”
Inoo couldn’t hold his emotions anymore. Tears begin to accumulate in his eyes. Chinen shifts his position to sit closer to the boy, and gently holds Inoo’s right hand.
Inoo wipes his tears. “I’m sorry for causing trouble to everyone. I truly am.”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself Inoo-chan… Whatever happens, JUMP will not leave you,” Chinen reassures the crying boy. “Have you talk to Yabu-kun?”
Inoo shook his head. “I can’t face him. Not alone.”
“Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to actually sits and talk things through with Yabu-kun to ease your guilt.”
“No… I don’t want Hika to misunderstand us again. I don’t want to make things worse.”
“But living with this unsettle guilt will only makes you suffer,” Chinen emphasizes. “We’ve been watching you Inoo-chan- Ryu and I. You can’t seem to concentrate whenever Yabu-kun is around.”
“Was it that obvious?”
“You stumble on your lines, forgetting your dance choreograph, and not to mention messing with musical score for your piano solo. Yes, it is THAT obvious.”
Inoo hugs his knees. Like Chinen just mentioned, he realizes all the shortcoming from his part during scrip reading and musical sheet practice. Chinen and Takaki had to stay back on several occasions to help him catches up. And now suddenly he is the one to decide about the sponsorship- whether or not they should accept the offer.
Honestly, Inoo is thrilled knowing that they may get a bigger venue and wider publicities.
But there is also another side of himself that is scared of haters and critics.
What if they couldnt except me?
What if they make me leave JUMP?
Inoo feels like his brain is exploding.
“Ne Chii, what should I do?”
