Part 10 In the middle of the play-gate the three years-old Ainosuke is crying his lungs out, kicking and throwing all his toys away from him.
“Even if you do so papa won’t pick you up,” Inoo continues with his kitchen work. “Be good and stay inside.”
Ainosuke cries even louder on Inoo’s ignorance towards him.
“What’s going on here?” Yabu walks down the stairs with a newpaper in his hands. “Oh my poor Ainosuke... Why are you crying dear?”
“Don’t you dare pick him up,” Inoo sounds fierce.
Yabu frowns. “Why not?”
“He’s turning four next summer, he needs to get himself comfortable walking around like other four years-old did.”
“Kei, he even runs if you don’t know,” Yabu replies.
“I know,” Inoo walks into the living room. “But you see, you and JUMP spoiled him too much, carry him around like a doll. That’s not the way. At this age kids play with balls and puppies, not sitting on his father’s lap!”
Yabu laughs. “Yeah… but Ainosuke is different from other kids.”
“In what sense?”
The older boy turns towards Ainosuke who has been eyeing him with his beautiful round eyes and both arm up in the air. “Yabu Ainosuke has Yabu Kota as his father that will pamper him untill his last breath,” Yabu picks his son out from the play-gate, cuddling him like always.
Ainosuke’s cloudy face is now becomes cheerful, laughing as his father throws him up in the air.
“Kota, stop spoiling him!” Inoo tries to get the baby from his spouse, but somehow the strong Yabu grabs his hand and pinned Inoo on the sofa, with Ainosuke being sandwiched in between them.
“It’s the same like you asking me to stop loving you,” Yabu whispers to Inoo’s ears. “I just can’t do that.”
Inoo opens his eyes. His head spins as he tries to get up from his bed. He lost. Slowly he lands his head on the pillow again. On the bedside he could see Ainosuke sleeping with his face resting on his left arm while the boy’s right hand is holding tight to Inoo’s left.
He looks around, trying to make sense of his surroundings.
More than that, he is trying to make sense of his dreams.
The handsome Yabu Kota keeps appearing in his sleep a lot lately. Inoo likes it very much when it happens, because for some reason he could feel the love that the boy has for him. The nervousness and the joy that he feels whenever Yabu appears in his dreams is something he couldn’t explains. How he wishes that it wasn’t just a mere fantasy.
Maybe it is not a dream. Maybe it’s a piece of my missing memories.
Inoo’s eyes sparkle the moment he realizes this fact. He wants to see this guy. He wants to see the wonderful papa that Ainosuke has been always proud of. He wants to meet him in person.
But, Hikaru said he’s dead.
The excitement in Inoo’s heart fades. He doesn’t know why but the news broke his heart so much. He feels like half of his soul is being taken away.
Without notice his tears flow down his cheeks.
Inoo looks at Ainosuke for another time, gently pats the sleeping boy’s head with his other hand. He feels sorry that the boy has to bear such fate at this early age. It must be tough to live as an orphan.
Wait, he’s not an orphan. He said I’m his dad!
Inoo’s head begins to throb again-the usual occurrence whenever he tries to dig into his past. Apart from the information about himself that he gets from the members (and the ‘dreams’ he had about Yabu), he actually has no clue on who he really is. Every time he sees Ainosuke he feels terribly pathetic- that he couldn’t even remember his own son. And the fact that his spouse passed away just sank into his head- another unbelievable thing Inoo has to face.
“Papa,”
Inoo comes back from his thought. Ainosuke is now standing closer to Inoo's head, rubbing his eyes as he yawns.
“You’re awake,” Ainosuke smiles. “Ainosuke is so happy.”
Inoo nods. “I’m sorry I made you worried,” he returns the smile. “It’s late now Ainosuke, you are supposed to be in bed.”
Ainosuke shakes his head left and right. “Ainosuke wants to take care of papa.”
“The doctors will care for me.”
“But it’s not the same!” Ainosuke becoming more and more persistent. “Ainosuke promised papa Yabu that Ainosuke will take care of papa. Ainosuke will keep that promise,” the little boy lifts Inoo’s blanket a little bit higher so it would cover his arm. “Now papa should rest.”
The two look at each other dearly. Inoo reaches Ainosuke’s hand.
“Gomen-ne , I’m becoming like this,” Inoo’s eyes get tearful again.
Ainosuke once again smiles as he wipes his papa’s tears. “Papa doesn’t have to say sorry, because this is not papa’s fault. Not at all.”
“You are such a good boy Ainosuke.”
“Because Ainosuke and Ryu have good papas,” Ainosuke spontaneously replies. “Papa and papa Yabu take care of Ainosuke before, now Ainosuke will take care of papa and Ryu.”
“Papa will remember, Ainosuke knows that. Papa will remember Ainosuke. Papa will remember Ryu. Papa will remember papa Yabu. Take your time papa. Ainosuke will wait, always. No matter how long, Ainosuke will always wait for papa.”
“Therefore, gambate papa!!”
More and more tears wetting Inoo’s slim face. He is lost for words. Deep inside his heart he feels really proud to know that he has such an obedient and lovely child as his son. On the other hand he is somewhat ashamed of himself for not be able to be a 'real papa’ to these two adorable kids.
And he regrets for not meeting Yabu Kota for the second time.
“Ainosuke,” Inoo calls.
“Hmm?”
“Want to sleep with me tonight?”
Ainosuke gasps. “Really? Ainosuke can sleep with papa?”
“Come here,” Inoo moves to lie on his side, leaving a little space for the boy to fit in. “Don’t worry, we won’t tell the nurses.”
Without thinking Ainosuke hops onto the hospital bed, slipping under the blanket and rest himself on Inoo’s arm.
“Ah… papa smells like medicine,” Ainosuke rubs his nose.
“Eh? Hontou?” Inoo sniffs himself. “Maa… stop complaining and sleep,” Inoo playfully hit the boy’s nose.
“Hait!!!” the boy answers, and later buried himself in Inoo’s fatherly warmth.

Kamenashi walks into the house with a bunch of letters in his hand. He put the groceries bag on the floor before looking at the letters one by one, grouping it accordingly to the recipient.
But one particular letter caught his attention.

Kamenashi’s hand is trembling. His mind has gone empty. He doesn’t know what to think anymore.
And as he tries to gather back his strength the door bell rings.
“KaT-TUN residence. Who’s there?” Kamenashi asks over the intercom.
“Ohayo gozaimasu! I’m here to see Yabu Kei-san. I get the information that he stays here now.”
Kamenashi frowns. “Who are you?”
“Oda Takenaga, from Ministry of Heath, Labor and Welfare. May I come in?”
