Kame lands on the couch in the living room, making himself comfortable after a long follow up discussion with Mr. Johnny at his office. Witnessing their chairman calmly confronting the media make him respect the old man even more.
“Are they going to be disbanded?”
One of the reporter’s question that give the most worry to Kame. Mr. Johnny’s reply adds more to his concern.
“That is about to be discussed.”
The press conference ends there. Kame can imagine what will turn out in newspaper’s front page tomorrow. Even some tv news have started to give out the unpleasant stories.
Mr. Johnny is very much aware about KAT-TUN’s problem. This is not something new. This seems like a déjà-vu on what happened in 2006, when Akanishi suddenly announce that he will study abroad without discussing it with anyone, not even Mr. Johnny.
Kame wasn’t really bothered by it. To him Akanishi is KAT-TUN, and he will always be. Performing overseas is a rare opportunity that Akanishi should grab, without hesitation. And Kame believes the other members agreed with him, until Akanishi’s sharp tongue set up the flame of anger within the group.
It was just an incident. Kame knows Akanishi doesn’t really mean what he said. But Kame also understands how hurtful it will be being in Ueda’s and Taguchi’s shoe. He won’t blame them either.
Kame is hurt too, more than anyone else.

“He said that Ueda and I are not significant in the group, because we don’t have any special gift,” Taguchi let his heart out. “We are just puppet to fill in the stage.”
“That’s mean!” Yamada couldn’t hide his anger.
Taguchi nods. “I never really care when people teased me around, to me they do it because of love. But Akanishi’s words last night were just too much. He kept on comparing his success to ours, how he manage to get international contract alone when we struggle to keep our pace here. He said that he is the ‘face’ of KAT-TUN, and without him our group will sink, because we depend on his popularity.”
Yamada makes a fist. Taguchi’s story really makes him wanting to hit Akanishi at once. How can he say such things to his group members?
“I won’t really mind if those words come from outsiders, because somehow they’re true. But hearing it from your own friend is just too… too…painful,” Taguchi’s tears drop as he tries his best to finish his sentences.
Sympathy flows in Yamada’s heart. Taguchi is right; the same word will give different impact depending on who is saying it.
“Gomen, for telling you all this,” Taguchi rubs his eyes and force a smile on his face. The smile is different from his usual- it’s not as cheerful as it should be, it’s not the Taguchi’s smile. Surely the bitterness remembering the unpleasant incident somehow affecting his heart.
“But the person who is hurt the most is Kame-chan,” the older boy continues.
“Akanishi-kun said bad things to Kamenashi-kun too?”
“No, not directly,” Taguchi shakes his head. “They are lovers. They’ve been together for years. Both of them are suppose to tie their knot next month, but Jin forced Kame to move with him to States. Kame obviously refused. He told Jin they can still get married and live separately because Kame knows Jin will not be in States for long. The cocky guy disagreed and he dumped Kame the very same night. That was like a month ago, few weeks before he hooked up with Yabu.”
“Jin’s ego stops him from apologizing, so he brought Yabu home just to make Kame feels uneasy, hoping Kame will change his mind. But nothing happened. Kame is just- Kame. He was not at all disturbed with their intimacy, making Jin more furious than ever.”
Yamada sighs. He was right about those two people. What a joke! Akanishi’s little game is so childish. And the funniest part is he didn’t know that Yabu is doing the same thing to him. Now the two of them are in a complete mess.
“Kame never shows his emotion to us. He doesn’t want us to be worried. But seeing his puffy eyes every morning I know he has been crying a lot.”
Understandable. Knowing his senpai’s personality Yamada knows Kame won’t talk about his feelings to anyone. Kame would rather swallow all his emotions himself, and drown in them.
Yamada turn around and look back at the ward from the corridor where they are standing. Hikaru is sleeping after being given his medication after his lunch one hour ago. And so the boys; seem like they are all taking a short nap. The ten boys cutely sit on the couch, sleeping with their head on the next person’s shoulder, just like a domino. Nakamaru sleeps with a book on his lap, the book that he read to the boys just before they finally dozed off.
Taguchi takes out his cell phone. “This will make a good picture,” he started to snaps a few photos, tip-toeing around so he didn’t wake them up. “Kawaiii….”
Yamada smiles as he watches Taguchi fooling around snapping the sleeping boys’ pictures. He once again turns, looking up at the blue sky from the corridor, humming the song Star time as he enjoys the beautiful evening wind, forgetting the sorrow for a moment.

Yabu slowly walks towards the sleeping boy. The news he just heard is just too painful. But seeing Hikaru’s wrapped head and his skinny pale face hurts Yabu even more.
“Hika-chan,” Yabu whispers to the sleeping boy’s ears, holding his right hand tight at the same time. “I’m here Hika-chan.”
Hikaru opens his eyes, weakly smile to the sobbing boy. “Why are you crying Ko-chan?”
“Be-cause…because you are going to…leave…me,” Yabu sobs even harder. His tears fell on Hikaru’s hand.
“It won’t be for long. Don’t worry, JUMP will take care of you,” Hikaru wipes Yabu’s tears with his remaining strength.
Yabu shakes his head. “JUMP has no meaning without you. It has to be the ten of us remember?”
“Some things are just not in our hand Ko-chan. They’re in His,” Hikaru points to the ceiling. “But I’m happy to see you Ko-chan. I’m happy that I can die in your arms. I can leave happily now.”
“Don’t say that! You are not going anywhere. You’re going to stay with JUMP, you are going to stay with me!” Yabu raises his voice. “Please don’t go…please…,” Yabu’s tears wet his own shirt.
Hikaru sits up, lands himself on Yabu’s chest. Yabu moves to support the sick boy. They are both now sitting on the bed.
“You are warm Ko-chan.”
Yabu gently strokes Hikaru’s head. “I will always keep you warm with my love.”
Hikaru takes Yabu’s hand and hold it close to his chest. “Ko-chan, will you be with me again in the next life?”
Yabu is crying out his lung now. He couldn’t hold back anymore. “Yes Hika-chan, no matter how many times we will meet again I always want to be with you. Always…” he tightly embraces his lover.
“I love you Ko-chan.”
“I love you too Hika-chan.”
Slowly Hikaru’s hand releases Yabu’s. His head tilts down, and there is a loud-long beep from the monitor next to them.
“Hika-chan?”
The boy keeps silence.
“HIKARU!!!!!!!!!”
