Old Age and Caterpillars

Jun 07, 2011 21:31

Child to his mum whilst waiting outside the Nursery to come in (we can hear through the door).
Child: Is B. going to be at Nursery today?
Mum: Yes she is.  Why do you like B?
Child: YEAH!.........but she is a bit old.

Story of my life, too old for the cutest little guys.

We have caterpillars as pets in the Nursery, we are looking after them in their special pot until they've turned into cocoons and then butterflies.

Child: B? Where are the caterpillars I want to see them.
Me: (I was right in the middle of cleaning up a wee accident on the Nursery floor) I can't get them now darling I've got to clean up this wee.
Child: Yes. But *where* are they?
Me: They're next to my computer.....doing my typing for me.

The child thought for a moment or two and then sadly shook her head.

Child: That's not a good job for a caterpillar.
Me: (With a sad sigh and a shake of my head) I know. It's not a good job for a B. either.

I think what she actually meant was 'caterpillars can't type' but I do like her explanation better.
