So my Survival class today kinda set Unit 10 on fire. That is they set the ground and a small bush on fire. They did not in fact actually manage to make fires in their flashpans.
After this mild heart attack, I became fairly convinced that the forest was more or less going to spontaneously combust. The fact that I personally reeked of smoke did not help at all. I kept smelling the smoke (myself) and running off to make sure camp wasn't going to burn down, at least not before I got my paycheck. And that is why when Meagan and I were supposed to switch groups I arrived at mildly out of breath.
Me: It's okay, nothing's on fire. Anymore.
Meagan: I think you mean yet.
Me: No. I mean anymore.
Meagan: Not with this group. You mean yet.
And that's about how the whole day went.
My personal favorite was discovering our new friend in the Nature Shack.
Teacher: Did you know there's a snake in your ceiling?
Me (without a pause): Yes. Yes of course I knew that. Snake in the ceiling. Right. Clearly. It's Vanessa's. Now everyone go outside. Quickly.
