Getting Married. Srsly.

May 12, 2009 10:28

So, some or all of you may know that Mr. LRC (aka: Mike) got laid off from his job last week.  So, we're getting married.

We wanted to balance out the bad of his getting laid off and make a statement about commitment and permanence in the face of such uncertainty.  We also thought that we needed to be married for him to be added to my health insurance, which turned out not to be true.

It's going to be super small, and then we'll have a big party later, when he gets a job and all.

2 weeks. 10 people (including us). Bride. Groom. Minister. Nothing else you would traditionally find at a wedding.

No..... Rings. Flower Girls. Cake. Dancing. Tossing the bouquet. Band. DJ. Walking down the aisle. Being given away. None of that.

Small, simple ceremony outside. My parents. His brother and sister-in-law. We each invite 2 friends.

I always thought I wanted a big wedding, but even planning this is a little crazier than I thought, so I think that he was right all along, and eloping is the way to go.  This is as close as it gets to eloping without actually eloping.

wedding, personal
