Addiction is a terrible master

I'm at Cafe Bene today, and not for breakfast.

You see, after typing at you last night I stopped in the convenience store for a bottle of water for the walk home.  Somehow, I'm still not clear how, I stepped down a teeny weeny curb and sprained my right ankle.  Worse, as I was falling I landed on my left foot which folded like a house of cards.  Left foot is swollen, right foot is misshapen it's so swollen.  So by all rights I should be home, both feet propped up with ice on them.  But nooooo.  I have to have intarwebs.  I have to have coffee.

In my defense I did go to the ER, with some difficulty and help from my fellow teachers.  There's a hospital just over the border in Seoul, 11 bucks cab ride but at least they take plastic.  The place was crowded, or seemed it to me.  At least one auto accident victim, judging by the cuts and bandages.  A guy next to me spoke good English, having spent a year in the States, and we chatted well enough.  So the doctor tells me he'll check for fractures but if there aren't any there really isn't anything they can do.  That's what I expected--I really just wanted a pair of crutches so I wouldn't be totally homebound.  I told him I lived alone and wanted crutches--he told me point-blank no.  He said to watch for a 'delayed fracture' which would be a hairline crack, invisible on the x-rays now but a suspect if the pain got worse and not better.  I highly doubt it.  While I screamed like a girl at the time (more horror and surprise and two gimped feet than anything else) I really don't suspect anything serious.  Painful, yes, but not serious.

So here I am, posting, drinking a mocha.  There's a taxi waiting outside to take me home, to a cat and some movies and boxes that still won't get unpacked.

Which reminds me--haven't found my address book yet, which is why I haven't sent anything out yet.  Don't have my new address with me, as today's trip wasn't planned.  If a package just can't wait, send it to SingJang Middle School in Gyeonggi-do, Hanam-si, SinJang-dong.  A message mostly for my mom who doesn't read this, I think.  :(
