From
Girls Read Comics, And They're Pissed we have a recent post by Karen Healey (I hope I got the spelling right there) on Bigby and Snow White's wedding in Fables. In it Healey is upset by Snow White (former deputy mayor and strongly compentant all on her own) taking a vow using a 16th century "traditional" service. Of the love, honor and obey style of thing...
Now I enjoy Healey's posts and generally agree with them. (Though the greatest Bad-Ass Power Walk scene is AND ALWAYS WILL BE Plush Puppet Angel and the Fang Gang going to kick demon puppet ass.) But I have to respectfully disagree with her on this one. Yes as a mystical Fable type Snow likely IS more bound by ritualistic vows like this. And yes she is smart, clever, capable and all that. But what she isn't is a modern woman. She's an unkown in age (but likely really, really old) ex-Princess living in exile. Why wouldn't she WANT to make that vow? I'm fairly tired right now, but I still can't think of any evidence that Snow actually ENJOYS having to take a front-line leadership position. But that she hasn't been able to trust the various men in her life up to that point (Charming, King Cole, Ichabod Crane) to not totally screw things up if she didn't take charge. But Bigby? Bigby's the freaking Batman of Fables. So I just don't see it being that out of character for her to be willing to place her total trust and devotion to him...
Now her sister Rose Red (Shown to enjoy leadership role) or Cinderella (Adrenaline driven super-spy)? For them that kind of vow would definitely be wildly out of character...
