A very heavy pull list this week. Even with being shorted on one of my titles. But then again I decided to start getting King City and even picked up the last two issues to go with it. Basically on the recommendation of the entirety of the internets. Brandon Graham does some crazy comix yo. Its all weird future stuff mixed with bizarro magic things and people who use cats as cybernetic weapons and some sexah wild hip action. AND each issue is 32 pages at 2.99. THREE. DOLLARS. For ten more pages than a normal comic...
G0dland, as ever, steams along ever closer to its big finale. This issue features a giant robot with a skull in a jar attached to its crotch AND the origin of Nicklehead AND it still has Kadeem Hardison...
This months iZombie showcases Allred's ability to draw really attractive undead girls...
Scalphunter's new story arc takes a look back into the past to meet Carol's momma, has Granny helping the junkie princess make a decision and the return of someone only seen before in flashbacks...
Simone takes a break and has Ostrander fill-in on Secret Six. Where a group of bored rich guys decide to play a little "Most Dangerous Game" with the Six. Even if this book didn't say right up front it takes place before #19 I think we can all guess how that turns out...
Another Pet Avengers one-shot. Tails of the Pet Avengers: The Dogs of Summer. Which has three Franklin Richards: Son of Genius stories (two of which are reprinted) and a Fin Fang Foom vs. Thor/Cap/Iron-Man story. Well, less a story than a set-up for October's next Pet Avengers thing. So one 15 page original, two reprints and a couple pages of prelude for another book. At four dollars. I'm kind of annoyed about that. Still, the cover by Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado is a super sweet one featuring Lockjaw and Puppy, the grandchild of Lockjaw...
Thor and the Warriors Four wraps up. And Loki gets taunted in the midst of his victory, the Midgard Serpent shows up and the Pet Avengers are called in to help. Sadly this also means the Hercules baby-sitting story comes to a close as well. And Marvel, anytime you want to release a collection of Colleen Coover's work for you in a collection? Couldn't be soon enough...
We finish with the Young Allies. I like how the FF and Avengers kind of blowing off Firestar and Gravity is reminiscent of the first issue of New Warriors when the Avengers came in after Terrax had been beaten...
