Update

Well, real life got in the way, and I didn't do my planned post.

Have just had a lovely weekend on the Sunshine Coast, though the sun didn't - shine, that is. Went to the market at Eumundi to immerse myself in some good old retail therapy. They have the most gorgeous things there. I have come away with lots of contact details to mail-order christmas presents. I also bought a lovely pair of purple pearl earrings for my cousin's 18th birthday. They are very classic round drops, but the colour gives them a bit more of a modern look. Hopefully she will like them.

Prior to the weekend, we have seen two bands in the past fortnight, which have both been really good. The first was the Kaiser Chiefs at the Arena in Brisbane. The energy of the lead singer was amazing! I bet he had to sleep for a week afterwards. At one point he lept from the stage to half way up the stairs to the balcony, shinned along the front of the railings before climbing onto the balcony, running through the crowd and down the stairs at the other end. He then stood on a shelf at the back of the sound desk and crowd surfed back to the stage. All while singing on a radio mike. Awesome! The sound quality was great, the venue was relatively small and the atmosphere was electric. The first of the two support acts was Operator Please, a bunch of obscenely talented kids from the Gold Coast with an average age of 17. Well worth checking out.

The second gig was Maximo Park at the Zoo, also in Brisbane. Again, they were really good, though the lead singer looked nothing like I expected. He had on a bowler hat, a la Clockwork Orange, but looked a bit like the geeky one from Numb3rs - the US crime show. The support was, coincidentally, meant to be Operator Please, but they had to cry off with 'EKKA flu'. They guys who replaced them did a good job with not much notice.

With Mum being here, we have also done a lot of tourist-stuff the past month or so. Currumbin animal park is still one of my favourite places to go, and I love feeding the wild lorikeets. We get them in our garden, but they don't come this close!

I have taken the plunge and signed up for the next round of the SS/HG exchange, and also for the Snape after DH fest.  Until the prompts are assigned, I won't know what to write for the exchange, but I have an idea for a threesome for the fest.  Hope I can do it justice!
