30 Hours, 2 Planes, 6 Films

Gets you back to England.  God, I hate that flight!  Back for a whistle-stop visit for BIL's wedding on Friday.  Qantas were a lot better than the last time we flew with them, so I was entertaines for the whole journey, which is a good thing as I only slept for a total of three hours out of the 30.  Weather a bit rubbish, especially considering that we left 30 degrees and sun, sun, sun.

Films - Slumdog Millionnaire.  Very, very good, and not at all what I was expecting.  Quite dark, with a nice happy ending - yes, even in film I'm a sucker for a happy ending.  Australia - enjoyable rubbish, wih a very fine indeed Hugh Jackman, though Nicole Kidman has overdone the old botox and is a bit wooden in the facial expression department.  For God's sake, she's 40-something; she's allowed to have a few lines!  Four Holidays - meh.  Some nice methods of family-avoidance, but otherwise, meh.  Ghost Town - liked this.  Ricky Gervais is very good at the selfish act, though it is a similar character to Andy Milman in Extras.  I particularly liked how it avoided the schmaltzy romance - he was grouchy and sarcastic even while trying to chat up the woman in his building.  Quantum of Solace - Bond, thy name truly is Daniel Craig.  Not entirely sure I got the plot, but who cares?  Lots of guns and boats and explosions and DC being generally hard and yummy.  There was another film, but at my heightened stage of jetlag at 3:30am, I can't remember what it was, so I don't think it was much good.  Also watched half of Twilight, before the entertainment system crashed, and the first 30 minutes of Vicky, Christina, Barcelona, which just confirmed that I don't get Woody Allen.

Just remembered - it was The Women, or whatever it was called with Meg Ryan and Jada Pinket Smith.  Again with the meh.

Well, I'm off to get e cup of tea and read until all normal perople are awake.

film, travel
