I seriously wonder why I even bother with my own writing. uberscribbler June 15 2009, 12:19:56 UTC
With vision and attention to detail like this, you should seriously consider submitting the completed manuscript for publication. Seriously.

You should know I routinely brush off the text you provided awhile back and just bask in it; its inspirational in its own way. This just makes these updates a dozen times more powerful.

That said, I'm a little concerned now at (a) how much attention is being put on Petra from the police, and (b) whether she and Simon are taking on too much here. They're both still horribly young and now have an even younger sibling to care for? They've proven capable enough thus far, but with the fleet in the shape its in (socially as well as physically) how much longer can their little family last?

I'm likewise scratching my head over Petra's visit with the Oracle. Exactly how is Petra supposed to find 'The Harbinger' and Earth (like we don't know who the old biddy was talking about)? Doubtless we'll learn in due time.

Know this: I'm reading and re-reading this story constantly, and awaiting each update eagerly. Please don't be shy or keep us waiting much longer!!!

Well, Petra's managed to avoid the police for the time being. There aren't that many of them, really. (Modern cities often have about 3-4 officers per thousand people. Fleetsec is probably 3-4 times that because they also fulfill the role of EMS and firefighters and the national guard. But that's only about 5 officers on a ship of 300 people and 2 of them will probably have primarily non-law enforcement roles.)

Petra and Simon trying to make it on their own is a big subject of the next chapter. Ultimately what I'm going for here is something rather Dickensian.

As for publishing, I don't know if I could actually make it into an completely original work. Maybe this first section, where the OC's are on their own, but the ultimate resolutions are so tied to the BSG universe. I do think I might use the free offer I got from being in Nano to use one of the self-publishers to get a hardbound version of it, just for my own satisfaction. But I've got to get it completely edited before I can get to that point.
