What I envision for the indexing posts and how it will work

Oct 22, 2010 19:18

OK, so I thought I should start by sharing what I envision the indexing posts will look like.

After reading through the comments from here and earlier discussions, I think if they're done by date, community and subject, it should work pretty well. So a typical index entry would have the title of:

August 2010 - lure_atwt community - Fics featuring Casey.

The body of the post would look like this:

dpracket - Makin' a list - PG-13
http://dpracket.livejournal.com/5470.html

fatherbananas - Fish of Death - PG-13
http://community.livejournal.com/lure_prompts/9479.html

slayerkitty - Mood (One Shot) - PG-13
http://community.livejournal.com/lure_atwt/784230.html#cutid1

The tags for this post would be: August 2010, lure atwt, Casey.

If you click on the tag Casey, you'll see all posts (one for each community per month) with all links for fics featuring Casey.

Fics will also cross reference into different posts. Thus mech_bull's Fabrication, for instance would appear in posts for July 2010 - lure_atwt community - Extreme AU, July 2010 - lure_atwt community - Multi-Chapter fics and July 2010 - lure_atwt community - LuRe's first time.

This particular part of the community will be pretty stagnant once it's up. I'm thinking we'll establish tags, I'll add the tags in, I and anyone else interested can develop the index (maybe we can all pick a month or two?), and then the posts can be tagged and put up.
