I HATED THIS FUCKING EPISODE. BUT NOT FOR THE REASONS YOU THINK.
I thought I was going to be sad, but I'm not. And I'm not in shock, either. This sucked so hard, I can't even.
I'm just going to copy/paste what I had in my own journal here.
(Please forgive me, I don't capitalize in my personal journal.)
he's dead.
he's dead and i am...wholly underwhelmed at the way everything was handled.
this had the potential to be good, soapy drama of the highest order, and the writers just fucked it all up.
they didn't even have the dramatic sense to drag his death out to the end of the episode -- they killed him at the halfway mark.
the only bright spot was van hansis' portrayal of luke. that i felt. he looked so...small and broken and in love that it broke my heart.

but where were the people to comfort luke? where were his family? nowhere.
pretty much everyone in the hospital was like, "oh reid's dead. WELL THAT'S ENOUGH MOURNING TIME. LET'S GET THAT TICKER INTO CHRIS! YAY!"
fffuuuuu.
chris' family picked over reid like a fucking vulture. tom shoved the power of attorney papers in front of luke faster than a speeding train. (haha.)
the only person around for luke was katie. and that was just barely.
and why did the show decide to try to make reid some sort of fucking saint or something? reid wasn't an angel.
he was a guy.
he was a doctor and a sandwich addict. he was gay and didn't give a flying fuck who didn't like it. he was funny and pragmatic and an incorrigible asshole. he had a soft spot for babies. he always put his toothbrush in the left-hand slot facing to the left because he found it comforting. he was sexy. he talked with his mouth full. he was a jerk.
and he loved luciano eduardo grimaldi synder.
i just.
GAH.
