"Have you heard from Noah recently?" Lucinda asked her grandson as she joined him on Lily's couch.
"Not since about a week ago," Luke replied sadly, "I know he's blaming himself for the accident." It had been around three months since the accident that caused Luke's blindness. Luke and Noah were going through a rocky patch in their relationship after Luke had accidentally got Noah's professor, Mason, fired. Luke had then offered to help his boyfriend to shoot the last scene of his movie, and he was given the task of setting up the fireworks; he'd never done anything like that but was desperate to help the man he loved and earn his forgiveness. The next thing Luke remembers is waking up in a hospital bed and a doctor explaining some details of the brain surgery he had undergone; and then Noah's visit.
"Noah?"
"I'm right here. Did the doctors explain about the bandages and everything?"
"Yeah; the surgery, and something about my eyes."
"They just need to protect them. I'm really sorry Luke, I shouldn't have asked you to-"
"It's okay Noah. I don't blame you."
"Here's the doctor."
"It's time to remove the bandages."
"I can't see. Why can't I see?! Noah? Noah!"
"I'm sure he'll come visit again soon darling," Lucinda said as she gently ran her hand up and down Luke's arm, "In the meantime, I have some good news for you."
"What?" Luke said cautiously.
"I got someone to do a bit of research for me. I've found a doctor who might very well make you see again; Doctor Reid Oliver."
