A LuRe Christmas Carol: CHAPTER ONE
I hope all LuRe lovers are enjoying this holiday season!
I started this story years ago and am working hard to complete it in the next month (so I can go back to my "Romance Under the Big Top" that still needs to be finalized). It was originally intended to be posted during a LuRe Yule Challenge, but I never had time to complete it. This is probably not my best writing, but at this point, I feel like I should just post it and move on.
The first two chapters (of five) were posted only in my journal, so some of you may have read them at that time. I locked them down later as I wanted to polish them for this release. I left all of the original comments intact, so you'll read more about the background of this story in my journal.

A/N: 1. My apologies to Mr. Charles Dickens, one of my all-time writing heroes. Not only have I borrowed the basis of his story, but I've also lifted some dialogue (only early on) before I settle into regular speech.
2. Thanks to teddybear9298 for betaing an early version of this chapter. I've made lots of small edits since then, so all mistakes are mine!
3. There might be a hanky alert on future chapters. Just warning you now.
