I forgot I'd written this, it's from a few months ago when Australia's newly-elected bible-bashing idiot of a Prime Minister managed to block the marriage equality bill, even though it had been good to go in the previous government. Wanker.

"I can't believe they didn't pass the gay marriage bill!" Luke repeated, outraged, two spots of hectic colour burning in his cheeks, his hair sticking up from running his fingers through it in frustration.

Reid nodded as he had been doing for the past half hour as he watched Luke pace back and forth across the room, feigning interest while he thought about the complicated surgery he was due to perform the next day. He was nothing if not adept at multi-tasking.

"You're not even listening, are you?!" Luke snapped, breaking into his thoughts, and Reid jumped a little.

Perhaps not as adept as he’d thought.

"Doesn't it bother you?!" Luke demanded, pulling at tufts of hair and breathing heavily, his lips pouty, and Reid found himself getting distracted all over again. But one look at Luke's furious face was enough for him to realise that it he wanted to fuck Luke any time soon he would have to take a more active part in this discussion.

"Of course it does," he agreed. "It's completely unfair ridiculous that gay people don't have the same right to marry as other people in this country just because of who we fall in love with and where we stick our dicks and fingers.”

Luke scowled mutinously. "Reid-," he began, and Reid cut him off quickly.

"Look at how much things have changed over the past ten years. I know you put a lot of hard work and funding into getting this bill passed and i know this is setback, but it just means we have to fight a little longer until we get there.”

“We?” Luke smiled. Reid rolled his eyes but pulled Luke into the couch next to him and kissed his forehead.

"Yes, we."

"So does that mean you'd do it?" Luke asked casually.

"What?" Reid asked.

"Does that mean you'd consider getting married?"

Reid rolled his eyes. "You're kidding me right?"

"You thought it was unfair five seconds ago."

"Yeah, that doesn't mean I'd go ahead with it. Who cares if the fucking state sanctions our commitment to each other?! You know, I know. Our friends and family know. No-one else matters." Reid smirked. "And we already wear rings so assholes will know not to hit on you."

Luke gaped at him for a moment. "So even if it did pass, you wouldn't do it?" Luke asked softly and Reid forced himself to concentrate; if he fell for Luke's puppy dog eyes there was no doubt he would be coerced into a horrifying super-Snyder summer wedding extravaganza.

"Nope."

"Why?!"

"You standing at the altar in a perfectly tailored suit clinging to you in all the right places?! I can't walk down the aisle with a hard-on the size of the Washington monument."
Luke rolled his eyes. "You’re so romantic. Why would you be the one walking down the aisle?"

"Just making a point." Luke lips quirked upwards and Reid relaxed. "I don’t want to get married but it doesn't mean I don't love you."

Luke smiled blindingly and pushed Reid onto his back and kissed him. "I love you too,” he said, hovering above Reid. “Wedding or no wedding," he smiled, and Reid kissed him again.

6 months later

Standing in the side room where brides usually waited before walking down the aisle, Reid peeped out into the large wedding hall and saw Luke with his back to him, crouched down and talking to Ethan, his ass round and firm and on display in his perfectly fitted trousers, and Reid felt himself stiffen. He rushed back into the side room and collapsed on the couch, burying his face in his hands as he tried to will away his erection.

"Reid, you all good to go?" Katie stuck her head through the door.

Reid looked up at his best woman. "Not quite."

"Then why are you sitting on the couch? Come on."

"Ummm..." Reid trailed off, shifting uncomfortably.

"What Reid? Spit it out." With a sigh Reid nodded his head towards his crotch and Katie followed the movement with her eyes. "Oh," she said, smirking. "That's quite a situation you've got there. How'd this...come up?" Katie dissolved into giggles.

Reid scowled at her. "What are you, five?" Katie smiled even wider at him and Reid groaned. "I just peeked out to see how many people had arrived and I saw Luke and his ass just looked so perfect in that suit and..." He looked at Katie piteously.

"Why did you look?" Katie said unsympathetically. "You know you're not supposed to see each other before the wedding, it's bad luck!"

"I don't believe in that crap Goldilocks."

"Well maybe if you did you wouldn't be sitting here with your cock setting up camp in your pants," she said, staring pointedly at his tented crotch.

"Touché," he muttered. He stood up and began to walk towards the small attached bathroom.

"What are you doing?! Turn around, walk the other way and walk down that aisle." Katie commanded.

"And how is that going to work exactly?" Reid asked, gesturing towards his dick. "I need to get rid of this."

Katie laughed. "Okay, but be quick about it."

"If I was Chris you wouldn't have to tell me to be quick, it would be a given," Reid laughed as the bathroom door shut behind him, and he dropped his pants and began to stroke himself.

If anyone had ever told Katie she would one day be waiting outside a bathroom waiting for her best friend to finish masturbating so she could walk him down the aisle, she would have have laughed them out the door. Then again, this was Oakdale.

But as each second ticked by Katie's amusement gave way to panic. Everyone was ready and waiting and Luke was looking more and more anxious by the second.

“1 minute,” she signed frantically to Casey who looked around, desperately trying to think of a way to cause a distraction.

“Fuck,” Katie thought.

Reid was caught between a rock and a hard place - no pun intended. He was desperate to come and get this over with so Luke wouldn't think he was being jilted, and if you added to that Katie standing just outside the bathroom and telling him to hurry up, it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to jerk-off and get over the line. And yet it wasn't enough to completely eliminate his hard-on.

"Come on," Katie encouraged from outside the bathroom, amusement audible in her voice, and Reid groaned.

"Shut the hell up, I don't need a cheer squad! I can't do this with you breathing down my neck."

"I'll bet it'd be a whole different story if Luke was the one breathing down your neck."

"Katie!" Reid yelled.

"Okay, okay," she surrendered, trying to stifle what he was pretty sure was laughter, "I'll be outside." Reid rested his forehead against the wall and squeezed his eyes shut.

"Don't be loooong," Katie's voice sailed in from the room as the door slammed shut, and Reid swore in frustration.

Taking a deep breath he began to rub himself faster, trying to think of Luke, of peeling that perfect suit off him and devouring every inch of his delicious husband-

Husband.

And wasn't that a word to completely deflate his erection. Reid felt a moment of sheer panic and he dropped his dick, breaking out into a cold sweat. He loved Luke but the thought of being a married man in the next few minutes felt like a death sentence. He tugged at his tie, loosening it and trying to breathe as the claustrophobia closed in, and he quickly pulled up his pants and stumbled towards the sink. He struggled with the tap, turning it with shaking hands and splashed some cold water onto his face.

"Finally!" He heard Katie exclaimed as she barged back into the bathroom, and he turned off the tap and leaned over the sink, face down and staring unseeingly at the sink bowl, his heart still pounding in his chest. "That must have been one hell of an orgasm..." she joked, trailing off as she saw his face.

"What's wrong?"

Reid shook his head and stood up and faced her. "I can't do this."

"What?!"

"This,” he said, gesturing in the direction of the main marriage hall, “I can’t do it.”

"Reid,” Katie said urgently, “Luke is out there waiting for you at the altar. You should have been walking down the aisle five minutes ago, come on!"

"I can't do it Katie," Reid shook his head.

"Why not?" Katie demanded, her arms flailing about.

"I feel like I'm trapped. All of this isn't even necessary. I love Luke and he and I for keeps but I hate all this added pressure of being a "married" couple."

"Reid, for god's sake nothing is going to change. You'll still be living together the way you do now and you'll be doing all the same things, the only difference will be the ring on your finger."

"Then why bother getting married at all?!"

"The state will recognise you as a couple. You'll have all the rights straight couples do. And you'll be united in every way possible."

Reid nodded slowly. "Okaaay...?"

"Reid, I loved Brad with all my heart and marriage brought us even closer together. Don’t you want that with Luke? He’s YOUR guy, and once you're married he'll be even more yours than he is right now."

A soft, goofy smile graced Reid's features and he nodded. "Okay."

"Good. Now come on.”

"Okay," Reid smiled and began towards the door.

"You wanna do up your fly before you walk the plank?" Katie smirked, raising an eyebrow.

Reid glared but zipped himself up and buckled his belt. He nodded at Katie. "How do I look?"

Katie rolled her eyes. "You don't have time to fish for compliments," she said, pushing him out the door, "move!" Reid rolled his eyes but let himself be herded into the vestibule, and the moment he arrived, Etta James' "At Last" began to play. Luke had chosen the song, insisting that they have something more personal than the wedding march.

"Move!" Katie hissed, linking her arm through his and Reid took a deep breath. This was it. A new life was about to begin. He winked at Katie and began to walk down the aisle.
