A few days into the relationship...
Luke and Katie are playing a game of Go Fish as they wait for their respective boyfriends to arrive. Reid and Chris happen to enter the apartment at the same time, both carrying identical boxes of chocolate.
Chris struts over to Katie and hands her the sweet treat, clearly very pleased with himself. “Here, honey. Happy anniversary!”
Katie sets her cards down and grins wildly at him.
“Hey.” Reid tosses the box he is carrying in Luke’s direction. The blonde catches it single-handedly from where he’s perched on the sofa, both men smiling stupidly at each other. “I picked us up some cheap chocolate.”
The room descends into an awkward silence.
Luke Snyder is completely enamoured with the socially inept doctor. Annoyingly so.
A few weeks into the relationship...
Luke and Reid are in the midst of their first inane fight as a couple.
"You're so cute when you're not being annoying. I miss that," Reid sighs.
The blonde hits right back, "And you're really very annoying when you're not trying to be cute."
Luke Snyder gives as good as he gets.
A couple of months into the relationship...
Luke and Reid are sitting in the living room couch watching a show on the Food Network. During a commercial break, Luke leans over to capture Reid’s lips with his own.
Mid-kiss, the blonde mumbles something that sounds like ‘mine’, causing Reid to break away with a bemused expression on his face.
“Did you just say ‘mine’?”
Luke groans, his face contorting to an almost embarrassing degree. “You weren’t supposed to hear that.”
“Why not?”
“It’s what crosses my mind every time I kiss you,” Luke rushes to say, squeezing his eyes shut in such an adorable way that Reid has to look away for a moment.
When Luke finally looks up, he has to stifle a gasp at the heat in Reid’s eyes.
The doctor quickly stands up and reaches for Luke’s hand, pulling him into his arms. “Screw the Sandwich King. We’re going upstairs.”
The younger man all but melts at Reid's words. “Okay.”
Luke Snyder can be very possessive.
About a year into the relationship...
Luke and Reid are texting each other on a lazy Saturday morning.
Luke Snyder drives a hard bargain.
A few days before their fifth wedding anniversary...
Luke looks down at Reid's sleeping form and smiles, a familiar warmth spreading through his veins.
This man.
This man has a hold on Luke’s heart so strong it can never break. It’s humbling and overwhelming all at once, but Luke can’t stop loving him anymore than he can stop breathing.
And the best thing? Luke knows that Reid feels exactly the same way.
He plants a soft kiss on Reid’s temple - his breath caressing those gorgeous auburn curls with just a hint of grey - before returning to his book.
Luke Snyder is hopelessly, irretrievably in love with Reid Oliver.
