“Well?”

Dr. Oliver ended the call and turned around. With zero notice he grabbed the side of Luke’s face pulling him into a long, heated kiss.

Completely lost in the moment and at an utter loss for words, Luke accepted the kiss. He barely had time to process what was happening before Dr. Oliver pulled away, leaving him stunned.

“I’m reinstated. Can you believe it! Vasco said they’d keep the investigation open, I don’t know why, I have no idea I’m certainly not guilty of any malpractice which they’re going to discovery eventually, but in the meantime I can get out of here…” the doctor rambled on “…ahhh I can’t wait to get back into the operating room. Make the first incision. You have no idea what this means to me.”

“I-“ Luke started “I actually…I do…”

“I never could have done this without you.” The doctor said as he passed Luke heading towards the door. He really did want to get out of here and start putting this behind him.

“Dr. Oliver, you do realize that you kissed me? Right? And I mean that’s, that’s okay. It’s nothing to be embarrassed by. I mean you’re excited; you just got some really good news. But I think it would be kind of weird that if we pretended that it didn’t happen.”

“I know what I did.” The doctor said confidently, staring directly into Luke’s eyes “It had nothing to do with the phone call. I wanted to kiss you. I’ve been wanting to kiss you for a long time. “ He paused just long enough “Luke.”

Luke felt a blush cross his over the bridge of his nose, immediately warming his face. He looked down at the floor, unable to match Dr. Oliver’s gaze upon him.

What was happening? And why was he not completely repulsed at the idea of Dr. Oliver wanting to kiss him, or the fact that he had wanted to kiss him for a long time? What even constituted as a long time?

Luke’s mind was racing as he tried to take in everything that has transpired in the past minute or so. How could so much have changed in such a short amount of time.

“Now don’t tell me you’re the one embarrassed now?” Dr. Oliver said, setting his briefcase back down on the table next to them.

“I just don’t even know what to say to that…I mean, you just called me Luke.”

Dr. Oliver laughed; this was the exact reason why he couldn’t help but like the annoying blonde. He liked that Luke was more shocked by the fact that he had called him by his first name than the fact that they had just kissed.

He took a step forward right as Luke was able to look back up at him.

“Don’t laugh, you’ll make me laugh, and I’m supposed to be feeling shocked right now…which I am feeling… I think…I don’t know.”

“What don’t you know?”

“I mean, what do I call you now? Do I get to call you Reid?”

Reid laughed to himself again.

“How am I supposed to feel about this?” Luke asked. The energy in the room was dynamic and he could feel it rush in and out of his body.

“Luke.”

Just hearing his name come from the doctor’s lips made the hair on the back of his neck stand up, but in the exciting, electrical current was in the air sort of way as apposed to the nervous, dark and scary movie kind of way.

“Yeah?” Luke answered as the doctor took another step closer to him.

“Where are these questions going?”

“I don’t know.”

“What do you really want to ask?” Reid asked, just inches away from Luke’s face, this time allowing him time to process what he was about to ask, what was going to happen.

“Are you going to kiss me again?”

“Mm hmm.” Reid said, sealing the energetic space between their lips.

After a few moments, Reid felt Luke relax into his kiss, his shoulders dropping, and his feet taking less than a half a step forward, just enough to bring their bodies closer. Reid took the subtle sign and let his hands pull against the small of Luke’s back.

Luke gasped at the contact and Reid seized the moment to deepen the kiss even more. Luke didn’t mind though as it was slow and not forceful. It was deliberate and hot and with the way that Reid’s fingers were slightly digging into his spine, he couldn’t stop himself from giving into the kiss even more.

Having full control over the kiss, Reid slowly started to shuffle them over towards the hotel room bed. He turned them slightly before releasing Luke’s body from his grip.

The kiss broke.

Luke felt breathless. He was overwhelmed by the series of swift events and even though his brain was begging him to get to the bottom of what he was feeling, his body didn’t want any of it to stop.

He knew he had to make a quick decision. If he got onto the bed everything would change. There would be no going back to what he currently had with Noah. If he ended this now and left the hotel room to really think about what was happening, he might never get a chance at this again.

In what felt like a split-second decision, because it was, Luke reached forward grabbing at the fabric of Reid’s shirt. He twisted his body just enough as he leaned back on the bed, pulling the doctor on top of him.

Luke could have sworn he felt Reid smiled into the kiss right before biting lightly on his lip, forcing him to open his mouth to allow him in.

Reid wasn’t as surprised that today’s events had lead to this. He had felt something the second he arrived in Oakdale. He tried to fight it for as long as he could because he was so annoyed that this boy-millionaire had blackmailed him, but once the Court ordered him to stay in Oakdale, he knew it would be impossible, because something was just there, and it wasn’t going to go away.

He also knew that Luke could feel it too, even though he was blinded by his rocky relationship with Noah.

Luke hadn’t realized how quickly he had given up control. He had always felt some sense of control around the doctor, considering he was the only reason that they doctor was in Oakdale in the first place, but here he was, allowing that same doctor to have him pinned on the top of a hotel bed in Dallas, thousands of miles from home.

He relaxed allowing Reid to shift until they were in melded together in comfortable position. He was done thinking about why this was happening and wanted to focus more on the actual kiss.

The kiss that was making him forget about all the complicated pain back home.

The kiss that was making him feel amazing, that strangely felt right.

The kiss that currently had the skilled surgeons fingers laced through his hair, tugging and releasing, deepening the kiss at his will.

The kiss that he knew would change his life.

Luke would have been lying if he said he wanted this to end. He was equally engaged in this kiss, full of little sexy nuances that he has rarely experienced before. He was thoroughly enjoying everything he was doing with the doctor but at the same time was fighting the urge to break the kiss and ask questions.

Reid knew this wouldn’t go past kissing today. As much as he was craving more, he also knew that this would be ruined if he acted on any more of his urges today and he wasn’t going to risk never getting Luke in this position again, as he had already become obsessed with all the subtle moves and barely there noises that Luke was making.

The whole experience was intoxicating and they were both engulfed by it.

Reid pressed hard into Luke’s lips before pulling up. He caught a glimpse of Luke’s barely parted lips, which were damp and shimmering and fought the urge to kiss them again.

Luke opened his starry eyes. He was breathless and overwhelmed by what he was feeling, by what he had just experienced. He smiled up at the doctor, who leaned down on last time sealing their lips in a quick and final kiss.

“We need to get back.” Reid said into Luke’s lips as he pulled up.

“I know.”

They both got off the hotel bed and Reid went right back to gathering his things so they could get out of Dallas and back to Oakdale.

Luke wanted to actually talk about what just happened, about how they needed to figure out what they were going to do once they got back. This kiss, it changed everything.

He watched as the doctor grabbed the final items in the room, throwing them into his bag. Once they were in, he looked back up at Luke and could tell that Luke wanted answers to at least some of his questions.

“Hey.” Reid said, making sure Luke was looking at him. “When I said I wanted to kiss you for a long time, I meant it.”

“Where do we go from here?”

“Back to Oakdale.”

“And then?”

“And then we’ll figure it out, but you know what I want.”

Luke already knew that deep down; he didn’t want to go back to the way things were prior to this trip to Dallas. And maybe for the first time in a long time, things might finally be getting better.

“Okay,” Luke said. He would have the whole flight back to think about what he wanted “Let’s go home.”
