I have GOT to find someone to go with me to a taping this month! Gah!
I'm really glad he moved his family out here, too. His kids are small and they need their dad, not to mention his wife. ;)

Yes, I hope you make it there this month, Traci!

Meanwhile, I'm in the uncomfortable position of kinda-hoping it gets renewed, just so maybe I can catch him taping NEXT season. ACK!

From what I heard, it's not expected to last an entire season. It got terrible, appallingly bad, stupendously horrendous reviews.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. So did How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. You never know what the masses are going to enjoy and the time slot couldn't be any better. We'll just wait and see. *fingers crossed!*

I hope it is a success for ESS, but this show has received some of the worst reviews I have ever read; the reviews for How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory do not compare. One guy I know who has seen a couple of episodes said that he would rather gouge out his eyes with a dull spoon than watch another. And when asked if he would be willing to give the shows he had previously given negative reviews another try, for IHMTD, the reviewer for the Hollywood Reporter answered, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no ( ... )

I really want you to get a chance to go this month!
I wondered about his family moving out west when I saw Jenny at the taping we went to.
This show gets a second season we need to plan a group trip :)

You went to a taping. What did you think of the show? To me, just from the previews, it looks okay...nothing to warrant the negativity I've seen. Also, I think some of that has fallen off as the fall season continues. The blogosphere especially seems to have calmed a little. I really am torn about criticism erupting from only a short clip or even an episode. It hardly seems fair even though people all have a right to express opinions. I hardly ever agree with critics. For instance, everyone on the web seems to love "New Girl." I think it sucks. Zooey Deschanel gets on my nerves big time. But that's only my opinion. Would I have rather ESS be in a show that was roundly received with good reviews? Of course. However, I've seen some shows that have gotten terrible reviews go on for years. At this point, I'll take him in whatever I can get him in.

The taping I went to was quite good. It had some truly funny moments for each of the cast members. The laughs from the audience were real not forced! It was nice to see a full episode to get a good feel of the show. Even if Eric wasn't in it I think I'd watch this show, his being in it just got me interested. I very rarely listen to critics, I find I don't usually agree with them. I hope this show finds success. It's not just a comedy, there were moments of tenderness and heart. Plus the cast really seemed to like each other, I really enjoyed watching their interactions between & after taping.
I did post a more in-depth report of my experience & posted on LRO & the forum on ESS.com

Thanks for respondiing to my question. I can't imagine it will be bad knowing who is behind it. I loved "Old Christine." I thought since ESS wasn't at the taping you went to, you might be a little more objective about it. I don't know if I could be unbiased if he were actually in the show. However, maybe you could (I'm so weak!). When I first started seeing criticism on the web of the title, I thought "here we go. People are going to pile on." --and they did. Also, I noticed a bunch of the bloggers were men. I think this type of comedy will be appreciated more by women. Anyway, I hope it's a hit!

I enjoyed "Old Christine" also. Actually Eric was at the taping I went to! Got to meet him! He was very nice! Also met Kristi Lauren (who plays his daughter) & Kevin Rahm (his brother). All were very kind & happy to meet fans. It was a great experience. Eric wasn't in every scene but I did enjoy the entire episode. Made me want to see more.
