Author's Note: This story starts the night that Noah finds Luke in Olde Towne and takes him home. It picks up right after Noah leaves. In my head, that makes Luke 19 and Reid 30,(using the DVD of Reid around 12 yrs old as being taped in 1990). This might end up being the dirtiest thing I've ever written. *hides* Huge thank you's to my official beta for this fic, stl29tide, and alissablue for all her EPIC research. :)

Basically, I'm hijacking the Paul/Josie/Dusty plot for my purposes. Don't know who Josie is? If you visit Dusty's Wikipedia page here, you can read up on it. I'm changing mostly just the dates for the plot, so it runs alongside Luke's plot line. I will probably AU it a lot. Also, in my fic, Dusty/Josie have known each other for a few weeks, and it was Paul's idea to call in Reid (He told Dusty that it was prove Josie was faking, but in reality he wants Reid to keep his scheme going).

Ok, so this fic has been lacking some Casey. And I lied about Noah. He shows up for about three seconds here. Also, this chapter (and the next couple) take place a week after Luke has moved in, and flash back to earlier days in the week.

“Luke!”

Luke looked around for the person calling his name, and smiled when he spotted Casey sitting with Allison at a table in the corner. He’d stopped into Al’s for a quick bite to eat, but mostly to alleviate his boredom.

Without his school work to keep him occupied, and Brian handling the foundation business for the most part (Luke was really good at signing his name), he didn’t have much to keep him entertained at the cottage.

Boredom was bad.

Boredom lead to thoughts about drinking, and Luke had even caught himself planning out how to get his hand on a bottle of alcohol.

It was then he decided that he needed to get out of the house.

Reid was supposed to have been off for the first few days that Luke was there, but Paul Ryan had woken from his coma, and Reid had wanted to treat him.

Luke couldn’t argue with that, and so it led to lonely days at the cottage.

He was still angry with his family, and they knew it, so the calls between them had been short and matter of fact.

Noah hadn’t called.

The one time Luke had ventured into Java to get a coffee, Noah had been behind the counter. The brunette had stalked to the back without a word, leaving his very flustered female co-worker to get Luke’s order.

“Hey, man.” Casey said, as he walked over. “Have a seat.”

Luke sat down, his hands in his pockets.

“You look good.” Allison told him. “How are you doing?”

“All right.” Luke replied.

“What’s it like living with Dr. Neuro?” Casey asked. Luke snorted.

Day 2

“I’m going to the hospital” Reid stood in the doorway to the bathroom, where Luke was standing, a towel around his hips.

“I thought you taking time off for me in my ‘hour of need’.” Luke gestured with his hands, his tone sarcastic.

Reid smirked, and that annoyed Luke to no end.

“Now that Paul is awake, I don’t trust his care to anyone but myself.” Reid told him. “I won’t be gone long.”

“Don’t hurry back.”

“Remember the rules, Luke.”

“Like you would let me forget.”

And that’s how it started. Luke, angry and annoyed, was staring down at the sink. The toothbrushes in the holder caught his eye.

Luke reached out and turned Reid’s so it was facing to the right.

“It’s okay.” He said. “I don’t like being forced to live there.”

“It’s better than rehab, right?” Casey asked.

“Yes, I suppose it is.”

“Noah…told me what’s going on.” Allison’s voice was quiet. “Between you and Dr. Oliver.”

“He did?” Luke was surprised.

“He needed someone to talk to.” She said. Luke nodded. “If you need someone, I know what you’re going through.”

“Thanks.” He replied quietly. “I’m doing okay, honest.”

Vienna approached the table and set plates down in front of Casey and Allison.

“Hi, Luke. “ She greeted him.

“Hi, Vienna.” She pulled out her pad of paper and a pen.

“Did you want to order?”

“Just coffee.” Luke answered, and Vienna went to put his order in.

“You should eat something.” Allison was concerned.

“Please, Ali. I’ve got enough people telling me what I should do.” She looked upset. “I’ m sorry.” He sighed. “I’m not good company right now.”

“So, are you and the good doctor…?” Casey wiggled his eyebrows at Luke.

“Oh, my God, Casey.” Allison replied, smacking him on the arm.

“What?” He said. “Like you weren’t thinking it.”

Luke laughed his first laugh in days.

“We were.” He answered honestly. “But not now.

The bell rang over the door and Luke saw the panicked expression on Allison’s face.

Luke turned around, seeing Noah standing there.

“Yeah, I’m just gonna get my coffee to go.” Luke got up and went to the counter, passing Noah on the way. He glanced at the brunette, but Noah kept his gaze trained on the ground. Luke took his coffee from Vienna, paid, and left.
