First, I miscounted my chapters. From Prologue to Epilogue, there are 53.

Second - I just wanted to take a moment to tell everyone how much fun it's been writing this story. For everyone who commented, for everyone who took a chance on this crazy fic idea, THANK YOU. It has meant so much to me, more than I can even put into words.

A HUGE SPECIAL THANK YOU TO eimark and yay_for_gays - instead of laughing and telling me I was insane for wanting to write this, you both told me it was a great idea and encouraged me to give it a shot. Seriously, thank you. To stl29tide, and mon_alice - talking things through with you guys has made this fic so much more EPIC than I ever thought it could be.

Luke surveyed the the living room with dismay. Party decorations hung from every available surface. Balloons and streamers littered the floor. Paper plates with half eaten servings of cake and ice cream melting into puddles littered most of the table surfaces. Wrapping paper was wadded up into little balls, covering most of the couch.

Reid came downstairs, whistling lightly, a baby monitor in his hand, until he saw Luke standing in the middle of the living room. His whistle trailed off in shock. Smirking, Reid just shook his head. He moved past Luke, patting him on the shoulder, on his way to the kitchen. If he was lucky, there might be cake left.

“You're really not going to help me?” Luke asked, staring at him in disbelief.

“I warned you it would be like this, but you insisted.”

“Reid, she only turns five once.”

“That's what you've said on every one of her birthdays.”

“But...”

“For her first birthday, you bought her a pony.”

“They need to start learning young.”

“She was riding before she could walk, Luke.” He paused, pulling a knife from the drawer, and slicing himself a large piece of cake. “When she turned two, you were the one who insisted that we have a circus party with real animals.”

“She loved elephants.” Luke defended, his arms crossed over his chest.

“When she turned three, you rented out an entire kids gym and invited the whole town.”

“It was good exercise.” Luke's voice was less firm now. Reid rolled his eyes, sticking his finger in the icing on his slice of cake, and putting it in his mouth. Luke's eyes followed his movements, his tongue darting out to lick his lips. Reid gave him a knowing look, taking the time to lick his finger thoroughly.

“When Rose turned four,” Reid began, shuddering as he remembered the previous year's party, “You wanted to give her the train party, at a real train station, and we couldn't find Rose for two fucking hours.” Luke was biting his lip, and Reid almost wished he hadn't brought it up because he knew the blond still felt bad about it. Rose hadn't even known she was 'missing'. She'd been happily sitting with the conductor, riding the train around the train yard.

“Reid, you promised you'd never...” Luke trailed off, hurt in his voice. Reid sighed.

“I know, I'm sorry.”

“Does that mean you'll help me clean up?”

“Nope.” Reid shoved a large bite of cake in his mouth.

“Reid.” Luke whined.

“Luke, I spent the last week helping you put that monstrosity in the yard together for Rose.” Reid pointed his finger towards the sliding glass doors, into the modestly sized back yard, where a large castle shaped playhouse sat.

Reid was taking his second bite of cake when he felt Luke's hands slide around his waist. Luke pressed himself up against Reid's back, one hand slipping down to palm Reid's cock through his jeans. Reid nearly choked on the cake in his mouth.

A loud cry came from the baby monitor. Reid set his cake down with a sigh.

“I'll go.” Luke offered.

“I don't think so.” Reid replied, pulling out of his grasp. He gave Luke a little kiss, before turning and heading upstairs. “You should take your ring off before you get it covered in food.” He reminded Luke.

“Yeah.” Luke sighed again, pulling his wedding ring off and setting it on the counter. “It took the jeweler three days to get that crap off after Rose's second birthday party.”

Reid carefully made his way upstairs, leaving Luke to the mess. The crying got louder as he made his way down the hall, stepping into the first bedroom on the right. He scooped up the crying child, making shushing noises while moving over to the rocking chair and sitting down.

“Papa?” Reid heard a little voice say.

“Why aren't you sleeping, Rosie?”

“I want more cake.”

“Your dad would flip.”

“Pwease?” She did that little baby voice, the one that got Reid to agree to almost anything. The one, that when combined with the same doe-eyed expression Luke used, usually meant Reid would give her what ever she wanted.

“Not tonight.”

“But, Papa...” She trailed off.

“Rosie...”

“Fine.” Reid breathed a sigh of relief.

“Do you think you can be a big girl and go to sleep now?” She nodded, scampering towards the door. Luke met her in the doorway.

“Did I just hear you asking for more cake?” He asked Rose with a laugh.

“Yes, Daddy.” She replied, looking at the ground. “Gus was crying and I couldn't sleep. My tummy growled.”

“Well, Papa got Gus to stop crying, so let's go back to bed, okay?”

Luke was back in a moment, just watching as Reid rocked their son. Technically, Reid's son, a spitting image of his father. It had taken years for it all to come about, to find a surrogate, for an implantation to take, and then nine months of waiting for Gus to get there.

Naming him had been hard. He'd been nameless for three days, until Reid's Uncle Angus had come for a surprise visit. Luke had sent him a baby announcement via email, and Angus had taken the opportunity to visit. The first night, Reid had thrown the older man out on his ass. The second night, Luke had forced them to talk (to this day, Luke still didn't know what they'd said), and by the third day of his visit, Gus (Angus Oliver, Jr) had a name and his very first chess set.

“What are you thinking so hard about?” Reid's voice broke through his thoughts.

“Nothing.” Luke replied. “Is he asleep?” Reid nodded, getting up and laying Gus down in his crib. The two men were quiet as they walked back down stairs. Reid saw that it was still a mess, and headed into the kitchen. He grabbed a trash bag with a sigh, and went back out into the living room, picking stuff up and throwing it away. “I thought I was on my own?”

“Never.” Reid set the bag down, walking over to Luke and kissing him.

“What was that for?” Luke asked, smiling.

“It's our anniversary.” Reid reminded him with a smile.

“I guess it is.” Luke said, grinning. “Five years ago today.” Reid just held Luke tightly.

“You have therapy tomorrow?” Luke nodded. He'd been going off and on for years, still trying to deal with what Zoe and Zac had done to him. Reid knew this time of year was always hard for him, no matter how much he loved Rose.

Luke pulled away, and began helping Reid clean up. It didn't take them very long, and before he knew it, they were curled up on the couch together.

The night that Rose was born, Luke had felt like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. Lost, adrift, in a strange world where impossible things were part of reality. And then a funny thing happened, the most impossible of all. He and Reid had fallen in love.

If that meant he had to live in Wonderland, that was okay with him.

It was pretty nice there.

Perfect, even.

END.
