A/N: Takes place the evening before the hearing in Dallas. Reid decides to go for a run.

The sun was already half gone when Reid started down a nearby park trail, but he needed to run so he carried on anyway. Reid loved running. The rhythms of his feet, heart and breath were in synch and - were it not for the worry about the medical hearing, the constant voice of one Luke Snyder - Reid would've been happy. He pushed all thoughts aside to the back of his mind and concentrated on the asphalt.

It worked for a whole of two-and-a-half minutes.

Well, he's not, but he's the only person that I love who needs you

Gah! I love this so much!!! It's short, but perfect. Reid running (nice imagery) with Luke on his mind, even more than the Judd case. And then, getting good news, but his relief and joy are diluted by the fact that he doesn't have anyone with whom to share it. But then of course, the object of his affection arrives to take away his loneliness. And there's hugging...pure, sweet, generous, honest hugging, and Reid falls. Of course, we know that Luke will catch him and keep him safe. Ahhhh, they are so much of what each other needs in so many ways. You have it so RIGHT here. So much better a love story and poignant moment than anything the show's writers came up with. Ah, it's wonderful, and I would have loved to have seen this acted out by our two fine actors. Forget canon. This is how the show ended, with the beginning of their happily ever after!

And the song is perfect too!

I'm sorry I've been quiet. Our computer is still out of commission. I have an idea for a Christmas, but I doubt I'll be able to write it until after the holidays.
