The day had been something out of a harlequin novel...not that Reid would know what that meant specifically, but he knew of the literary genre, so it was an educated guess. The pair woke up entwined together. They had spent a lazy morning feeding each other richly colored berries and sipping on fragrant, freshly brewed coffee.

Luke easily convinced him to spend the afternoon on the farm, which included horseback riding. Reid was beginning to realized there may be more downsides to love than just the potential of losing that love. Sometimes, Reid felt like he was losing the intricacies that made him who he was. But in that moment, even after the uncomfortable ride, after swimming in the bacteria infested Petri dish they called the Snyder pond, Reid couldn't bring himself to care.

They laid side by side as the sun's heat dried the water droplets on their bodies. Luke was telling him a heartwarming story about his past, and Reid played with the set of Luke's fingers closest to him. The exertions of the day had caught up with them, and Luke's voice had slowed, and the pause between words had increased. Reid's eyelids felt like sandbags, and it was becoming difficult to hold them open. The last thing Reid saw was a monarch butterfly landing on Luke's cheek. The insect flexed its orange and black wings before fluttering away. Reid smiled. Only Luke. Reid was sure he'd be covered in ants when he woke up. Hopefully they won't bite.

This is possibly the sappiest thing I have ever written.
