(And am I the only one who could've happily shipped Reid and Katie at this point in their story?)
That was just you. Ha ha. Nah, seriously, I'd heard the rumors about Reid being gay and into Luke eventually so nothing--NOTHING--was going to stop me from wanting a Luke/Reid hookup, not even Katie and her bubbly personality.
I still remember, though, having doubts about Reid's sexuality (damn those ATWT writers and their mind games!) after this episode aired. Afterelton.com had issues with it too during their awesome liveblog:
2:35PM EST: Henry runs into Reid at the hospital and tries to dissuade the doctor from moving in, but Reid plays Henry like a toy, telling him that he thinks he'll love living with "Bubbles", and that maybe she can help with his "needs". He better be teasing.
2:50PM EST: Um, why the hell is Reid flirting with Katie? What's going on here?
I don't know; I just think Katie and Reid still would've worked better as amigos even if Reid was straight.
Fair enough, heh. Their relationship probably wouldn't have lasted anyway. (But see, they were flirting! Even that liveblog says so. :P)
I didn't watch back then, so obviously when I was getting caught up, I knew where things were headed, but still, they would've made a pretty couple if nothing else. Of course Luke and Reid are prettier. ;)
I also read somewhere recently that people thought Reid was gonna be paired up with Noah? Don't know if people really believed that or if it was just a misinterpretation of Luke bringing Reid to town "for Noah".

That was just speculation back when some Nuke fans didn't want to even think of the possibility of Reid hooking up with either Luke or Noah. But after the fiasco that was Noah/Mason, there was no way another guy was going to be brought in for Noah.
I think it's interesting they brought in another character for a "triangle" after that at all. As far as I can tell, not a single audience member rooted for Mason and it didn't really spice things up at all...
(LOL, I just re-read how I worded that. As if Luke would bring in a new love interest for Noah, heh. Sometimes passive voice is the right choice, moerlin.)
There sure was a lot of googling going on there as well. Just what did Reid find out when he googled Luke? Maybe there were some pictures that he liked as well?
LOL. Probably. Hmm, I want to see someone write a ficlet about Reid being taken with Luke's pictures. *nods head eagerly*
As far as Katie knowing about Reid being gay, I'm torn between when he actually told her. I'd like to think it was this same day he moved in BUT since he's a private man, I think he told her until she got it out of him later on once they got to know each other better. That's because I like to think Katie developed a little crush on her roomie and then was a bit disappointed when she found out the truth.
Yes, I really hope someone writes that! :) I loved the Luke-googles-Reid scene in Consult, and some role reversal would be great.
Yeah, I'm kinda torn on that too. They do have some moments later on where I'm guessing Katie might've behaved differently if she'd known. But then she strikes me as a very goes-after-what-she-wants kinda gal, so maybe it should've been more obvious. Eh, maybe she just had a nice night with her pals Ben & Jerry to get over her crush. And then secretly went into matchmaking mode. ;)
Reid walks into Katie’s place later that night, shrugging off his leather jacket and smiling at her. “Is your bodyguard around?”
Katie stands from the dining table. “Who?”
“Hank.”
Katie laughs. “Henry. Yeah, listen, I’m sorry about earlier. Henry can be quite protective of me and Jacob.”
“Of you mostly. Is there something going on with you two? Are you . . .?” Reid asks as he stands beside the couch.
Katie quickly shakes her head. “Oh, no, no, we’re not anything, not now. We were-a long, long, long time ago. We were married even but not anymore
( ... )
This is awesome! I love that Reid spilled his "secret" just in the middle of a regular conversation like that (also, important roomie talk, heh) and that there was no fuss about it. And aww, a new nickname is born. :)
I think Katie knew right away that Reid was gay. Katie and Reid were great as freinds. I really didn't see anything romantic between them. I guess I had read that Reid was going to be gay and fall for Luke before he came on the show so wasn't really looking for anything between them. I think this was the only time I kinda liked Katie was never a fan of her before. Damian was really being supportive of Luke this time and then had to go and ruin it again. Mason and Noah would have never worked there was no chemistry between them at all. I saw more chemistry with Luke and Mason in the few scenes they had together. I think Reid wanted Luke to stay out of is orbit because he was already having feelings for him.
