Music that Touches the Soul
" I repeat, I am NOT going to Yo's to listen to a bunch of drunks trying to sing. It matters not to me whose birthday it is, even yound Hughes." Reid alll but shouted. Seeing Luke's pouty look, he wanted to scream, but just said," One hour, that is it. I mean it Luke, even if I have to come home without u."
Luke kept himself from pumping his fist into the air, and kissed read passionately on the lips saying," Payback will be a pleasure." Reid could not help but smile.
45 minutes later, the walked thru the door of Yo's dress both in black shirts, Luke in blue jeans, and Reid in Luke's fav black jeans. Holding hands, they greeted a few, and to Reid's dismay, Luke led them over to a table the had not only Katie, and Chris, but also Henry, and the cougar he had wedded six months ago. Deciding to tough the next 60 minutes out, Reid settled in beside Katie, and then patted the seat beside him so he would not have to converse with anyone else unless he chose to.
He heard Henry say excitedly," Babe, you know Casey made the them of tonite," Elvis songs", and giggled . Reid thought he was going to turn the birthday table cloth into chili vomit. He heard the cougar say," Well, we know who will be the best tonite don't we sweet pea?" Omg, thought Reid. I will not be able to make it for an hour if I have to keep listening to this sweet shit. He felt LUke squeeze his hand, and heard him ask," Do you want a drink or beer?" Reid thought for a sec, and said," Bourbon, neat." Luke looked a little surprised, but got up and headed to the bar. Half listening to Casey's prostitut dressed bride trying to sing " Jailhouse Rock," Reid clinched his hands to keep from putting his fingers into his ears, willing Luke to hurry up with his drink. He all but groaned when he heard Henry's wildcat encourage him to go next.
Thank God! Luke was back with his drink. Downing it quickly, Reid held his hand up until,Rick the bartender saw him, nodded, and sent one of the skimpily dressed waitresses over to bring him another. Luke bit his lip trying not to admonish Reid for drinking too much, but thought better of it, thinking maybe it may help him relax and have a good time.

Reid almost threw up his chili from dinner when he heard the cougar encourage Henry to sing next. Henry confidantly went the the stage, whispering to the dj what music to play. When the music to " Are You Lonesome Tonight" started playing, Reid said louder than he mean," Gag me." which earned him an elbow in the side from both Luke and Katie. The cougar gazed at Henry like he was Elvis risen from the dead, and when he headed back to the table jumped up, and pawed his neck a little, and kissed him with her botoxed lips. Henry smirked at Reid and said," You might be a genius in the operating room, but you would slash Elvis to bits." He and the wildcat thought the remark hilarious.
Downing his third drink, Reid pushed Luke sitting in his chair out of the way, and walked toward the stage. Luke and katie looked at each other in astonishment, igorning remarks made by Henry and Barbara.
" And the snow flies."" Reids beautiful voice delivered those four words so husky and beautiful that the hair stood up on Luke's arms. The whole room got quiet. Even LIly was ignored by her audience at her table since everyone was mesmerized by the beautiful mand on stage singing so hauntingly that many were fighting tears, including Luke and katie who both let a couple escape. When he finished the song, there was dead silence, and then a loud applause and standing ovation. Luke did not know whether to laugh or cry when Reid walked straight to him and kissed him lightly asking," Can we go home NOW?" Pulling his husband to him by his belt loops Luke whispered in his ear," Only if you promised to sing to me after we make love."
Kissing him soundly Reid said," Deal."
